evolve into existence from nothing? I mean, for instance, the law of gravity! To me, the existence of a law is proof there's a "lawgiver". I can not imagine a law evolving into existence! I'm not talking about the mental gymnastics in the usual line of reasoning about the unproven hypothesis of the evolution of "matter". Please keep sarcastic remarks to yourself. I'm asking a serious, logical question.

I know that "laws" as applied to science are attempts to understand the universe. What I'm asking is how did the laws being described "evolve"? How did the way gravity acts "evolve"?

Does anyone have a satisfactory explanation?

the term law is of mans making. it is part of the classifying that mankind feels they have to do. thus the only law is one that man makes to understand how the world works

Interesting, I think that it's entirely possible that these laws have always been, let me explain... since we're talking about some of the most confusing stuff you can POSSIBLY imagine, we're going to include all the theories.

Lets go with the parrallel universe theories, now in the actual theory there's an equation that I cannot currently remember that defines exactly how many different universes there are, but say there's an infinite number, with slightly different laws in each one regard time, but they all have the same laws of physics, seeing as how gravity is totally independent of time, granted I can already hear some people saying "if the laws of time can change, why not the laws of physics?" on this occasion, the answer is very simple: BECAUSE I SAID SO. Now, provided everything was aligned in just a certain way, it is concievable that all things travel in a temporal loop concerning interactions between universes, therefor there is no beginning and the laws of physics did not evolve, they have always been.

I hope this helps a little, despite its confusing roundabout nature, but the question itself is a bit confusing and yet it was very interesting so I couldn't pass the chance to answer it.

PS no, this does not include all theories but you'd have to die about 6 times in order to read all the theories if I put them in here.

Your locked up in semantics.

God's law is a requirement that must be met to obtain/maintain his approval. A physical law is man's best current interpretation of a physical world. The existance of a physical law is not related in any manner to the existence of God's law.

What "evolves" is man's understanding of gravity (or other human condition). Gravity did not evolve. It's been here as long as God has. There is no conflict in the bible for the idea that there are other things besides God that are at least as old and enduring (such as matter, energy, or gravity). God created Heaven and Earth, it didn't say where he got the building blocks.

It is easy to be confused by the different meanings of the word "law".

When one speaks of legal law, there are naturally sources -- the "lawgivers" to which you refer. The legislative power (the power to give laws) is always a component of sovereignty. Some part of every government will always have the job of putting out rules.

Physical "laws", like the "law of gravity" are obviously not the same kind of laws. They are really a kind of figure of speech. When "scientists" of long ago (who usually preferred to be called "natural philosophers") observed nature, they observed that there are some things that always happen the same way. For example, falling objects tend to move in predictable ways -- extremely predictable, it turns out. It is as though God has written a "law" that requires falling objects to do what they do.

Of course, a brick doesn't "follow" the law by falling to earth in the same way you follow the law when you bring your car to a stop at red lights. Bricks don't study law, don't decide to fall, and can't decide to "break the law" by stopping in midair. They just always do the same predictable, thing -- AS IF they were following a law.

The laws of nature (gravity, for example) are not objects in space, things that came into physical being, any more than other abstract things are, like love, trust, and courage. I'll bet you believe in those things, even though they didn't "evolve into existence from nothing". Instead, the "laws of nature" are ways of describing nature's most stubborn patterns, just like "love" and "trust" are ways of describing feelings that can't really be pointed to and looked at.

So, it seems you're letting the words mix you up before you ever get to the ideas. The ideas themselves, of matter and where it came from, are very complex, as any scientist could tell you, and people are still trying to make educated guesses about how it all works, but no one knows for sure. I hope that helps.

That answer was best written by a German who studied Astrology. Today, his theory remains to be the best yet. It all started with dust particles that collected for trillions of years. Then one day a fusion set it off like a galactic explosion sending fragments the size of earth and bigger throughout the Universe.
The Neutrons and And all atoms Positive and Negative drawed it back up like ball that remains to burn which is the Sun. It is a constant reactor fusing all the time.
When the all of these pices of Rock came to settle one of which was Earth this is where the bus stops.
The Earth was fortunate to develope on its own by no cause of MAn nor supreme entity, a life form.
That life from expanded over trillions of years and today the Bible contradicts scientist to this fact of evolution versus life form.
With all respect, I don;'t know what to really say about it as far as God is concerned, but this much I do know, there is alot more that was created than Humans and Dinosaurs and all that. There is a special entity of spirit that is truly remarkable and some have witnessed it and the Bible has its version.
In all that very phenomenal spirit is far mnore advanced than the average human being and we are no where near of actually being smart much less intelligent enough to understand its form and if we did Man would destroy it like he does everything else i nature.
Belive what you want to believe, but belive this...God what we call the supremem being is just a word for us to follow, but the truth of the matter in its exhistance lays upon what Man will never know until he is dead.

There is no easy answer to this. Either there is a watchmaker who has made the watch or the watch has managed to create itself. By this I mean, either there is a creative intelligence which stands outside of the universe and has created the universe according to exact laws, like gravity, or the universe came into being as a self-created entity and, as part of it's own innate intelligence has evolved it's own laws in order to sustain itself. Maybe it is a combination of the two. Whichever way you look at it,there is no comprehensive answer which can satisfy the enquirer because the questions then begin to extend to, how did the watchmaker arise in the first place or what caused the watch to birth itself.

A "law of physics" is just a way that he define how something works according to our ability to understand it. For example, Newton did not make a law to govern how gravity works, we simply set up a short list of rules that he happen to notice, that gravity naturaly follows. He would test these "rules" different ways to see what the boundries were, then would come to a conclusion that he simply wrote down. Many members of the scientific community have tried for years to brake these "laws of physics" to try to prove or disprove that things work the way we suspect. Maybe someday, our ability to understand the physical world around us will evolve to the point, that we can see if our theories are correct or not. I hope this helps.

How about they were there and its simply how things react to another, constantly recyling... Why does it have to be made...?

Gravity does not evolve any more then magnets...

organic material reacts to whats around... But its not made out of anything... its just arrangement of molecules...

As for your answers... wait a 1000 years odfso till we invent telescopes and instruments 3 galaxies wide then we can look into the origons of the universe... can't do much with tiny instuments we have now...

get an idea of scale marte, stop thinking human lifespan.

Theisngs come together, if the right things hcome together something good comes out of it.

You talk about how specil this planet is and the odds... but look at the universe... it an odd one out

in your example with gravity:
are you asking how gravity began? the "law" came into existence because man figured it out then. personally i like the term RULE over LAW but thats me. the law of gravity is also a law of man. gravity was present before man was doing what it does. it was a product of planetary development. and don't let your imagination slow you down . if you CANNOT imagine something why spend time trying to then understand it. approach this with more objectivity then you may realize your answer.

all sarcastic remarks aside, it's a dumb question. i can see how you might over complicate the question to the point where it feels complicated.
you talk about a law forming from nothing. perhaps I'm miss interpreting you but laws don't form out of nothing, observations are made, and hundreds of tests are done to confirm that something is an absolute fact. there is no "lawmarker" as you suggest, there are just things that are true (the earth is round, the sun's energy is produced by fusion, hydrogen and helium make up 98% of the elemental make up of our universe)...people aren't making laws, they're just observing truths.

Yes, I tell you if there is a creation, there must be a Creator. That Creator is none other than Jesus Christ himself. In the Beginning was the word, and the word was made light to shine on the darkness. But man loved darkness instead of light therefore we now live in a chaotic world where everything eventually dies, including this creation.
