for Chloe, and otehrs who discussed high personal standards:: "What I’m saying to you this morning, my friends, even if it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, go on out
and sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures; sweep streets like Handel and Beethoven composed
music; sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry; (Go ahead) sweep streets so well that all the host of
heaven and earth will have to pause and say, "Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well."

I've always been one to take the leadership roles because I have a hard time with other peoples organization or lack there of and i like to have things work out well for everyone, something that a lot of people in leadership don't care about. I think it is a very important skill to develop because it keep you from having no confidence. If you can take the lead and do a great job with it you feel better about yourself. It also allows you to not be shy, to make good friends, to get ahead in life, and to be someone that others will look up to and appreciate. Even just a little bit of the skill is enough.

There is a difference between authority and leadership. There are people in positions of authority who do not demonstrate leadership while there are those with no authority who do display great leadership.

EG: A CEO may not inspire staff to be innovative while someone who is working in the mail room but takes great pride in their role and work to set a high benchmark / standards for others to follow.

Most people (if not all!) will find themselves in a position of leadership during their life time. They may not be formally appointed as managers, but they may have to take the lead in making decisions or choosing a direction to act upon. Being able to lead is, therefor, a vital and essential skill to have in my opinion. Whether or not you are any good in a leadership role is an entirely different matter!

I think some people are naturally gifted in being leaders (it comes easy for them) unfortunately for me, that's not my gifting. I do, however, think it's very important to develop this skill because some point in your life you will be in a situation that requires leadership skills..not only that it will help develop your character in positive ways (that's my personal opinion) I have overcome many fears and learned valuable lessons. You should be a follower and a leader.

Ever since my high school days, I have been involved in some form of leadership role. It is a very important skill to develop. It allows you to become knowledgeable and involved in community affairs, volunteer organizations and in political issues. I think it is important to be able to stand up for your rights and for others. It assists in becoming creative and developing social skills.

Leadership is the most important skill to develop. This is the difference between a Vice President/CEO and the mail room. It's not about money, but it is about self confidence and courage.

Those who are more likely to shrink from leadership should force themselves to do it. Otherwise, they will always be sheep, even when they are placed in that role.

I hate to boss people around, but I am now the no. 2 man at work b/c I can't stand to watch people do halfass work. I have always forced myself to speak up and take the lead, which is why I am in the position that I am now. Your opinion counts when you have proven yourself.

I have always leaded, never followed, except my parents. And I definitely think this is a quality you should develop, but for that, first you must develop your own personality. But when it comes to friends, I go by this beautiful thought -"Do not lead. I may not follow, do not walk behind me, I may not lead, but walk beside me, and be my friend". So whether I lead or follow, depends on the person and circumstances.

Anything important or worthwhile involves responsibility. Leaders are responsible for the welfare of others. Do not be afraid to take on responsibility. Yes, it is extremely important. The world needs many more competent, ethical, intelligent leaders. Maybe you.
