What're your views on the government's decision to ban 'designer babies' - the rights of the couple to determine the gender, physical or social characteristics of the yet-to-be-born child?

Nazi Germany had the idea of the Master Race, and it caused WW2 and millions of lives. personally, i support the ban. i am an atheist, so the religous aspect of this issue doesnt pertain to me...i just dont want to be drafted for WW3.

Oh ye of the assumption faith, when wilt thou stoppest thy puffings up of events? LOL

If you honestly knew anything about this event other than some story you read or heard on the Fox networks, your question would not be so generalized.

There was NO ban on designer babies ... I heartily challenge you to show me where in the "government" they had a bill or a proposition to "ban designer babies". Rather, there was probably a vote in Congress that declined funding to private research into DNA manipulation, which btw would make designer babies possible.

And we don't even know why the thing was smashed in Congress, do we? Could have been bad budgeting, could have been because someone tacked on a bunch of stupid things to go with it, but we don't know that, do we? And why is that? Because you've failed to provide any real facts that we might be able to check for you.

I think this should definitely be banned, who are we to decide to play GOD, don't we already do that enough with stem cells, and in vitro, and all that. You know, I am a firm believer that not everyone should be able to have children. These people who want these designer babies are a disgrace to the rest of the population who want children, and can't have them for some reason. My friend would be a fabulous mom, she loves kids, and she's awesome, but due to a medical condition, she can't have kids. She would be happy to have any child, no matter what color eyes, or hair or whatever, and then there are these people who think that because their wallets allow them to they should be able to custom order a child, if they can have kids, they should just be grateful for that blessing, and not worry about anything else. HUH worrying about what color eyes and what color hair, what ever happened to worrying about the baby being healthy, and having all it's parts, isn't that more important? Sorry, I know I went off a little bit, but stuff like this just irritates the hell out of me.

Liberals know as much as a container of rocks.. The Liberal ideology is an thought , fostered by employing a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth ideals that haven't any foundation in fact. Criminals do no longer pay any interest to rules... If weapons have been ever banned than purely the undesirable adult adult males might have them..Criminals desire unarmed sufferers!! Having a gun won't help all of the time yet being defenseless won't in any respect help.. whilst seconds matter calling 911 and asking the undesirable guy to attend isn't a likely option. extra helpful to have a gun and not want it than to wish it and not have it!!! **Police do no longer look after you from crime, they oftentimes purely look at the crime after it happens.** @

The ban serves a good purpose, keeping parents from screwing up their yet-to-be-born baby. The man's sperm determines the sex of the child, and with all the confused genders out there already, it would be disastorous to add to the problem. God made mankind in his own image! How more perfect can you get than that? Why anyone wants to change His creation is beyond me!

If a condom doesn't come with a guarantee, how would doctors guarantee that you'll get what you asked for. What would parents do with a child that didn't come as advertised?

If you want to design a child, pick the right mate. Your blueprint is right in front of you (and in the mirror).

For once, the government is right. It's God's job to decide such things. Those who want to "design" a baby shouldn't have children. It's selfish.
