What is your definition of pollution? Undersea volcanoes put far more "pollutants" into the sea than man.
Any studies on this are based on observations in small ecosystems and are extrapolated to include the oceans as a whole. Example: "Shellfish in 12 coastal bays are dying at a rate of 7.3% per year - therefore the entire ocean will be completely void of life in 15 years."
Such extrapolations are wild guesses at best. (Like Al Gore saying for the past 15 years that global warming is going to kill us in 10 years.) There is no way anyone can grasp the ocean as a whole and "understand" all that is happening. That ecosystem is far too complex, we can only get snapshots through peepholes. These narrowly focused snapshots can be very misleading. Basing a reaction on misleading information can be very dangerous.
If you do read up on any studies I would suggest you read only the facts and forget the commentary on what the "experts" say the facts conclude. Follow the money, the experts main objective is to prove that they deserve more research money to further analyze the situation.
You know what the derivative of the word "expert" is?
Ex : former; a "has been".
Spurt : a flow under pressure.
Expert (ex-spurt) : a "has been" under pressure. (My dictionary includes Al Gore's picture as an example.)
I say: You do what you think is right, I'll do what I think is right, you don't tell me what I should be doing and I wont tell you what you should be doing. No more rap stars hopping out of pimped Hummers telling me to "ride an electric bus to work... save the environment ".

I can't say for certain how polluted our oceans are, but I can say it is worth worrying about. We eat what comes out of the ocean.

it's really a cycle.
one thing leads to another. one thing affects all the others.
so, polluted oceans will surely affect the whole ecosystem of the earth.
it would certainly affect me...
that's why i'm worried and careful.

The great trenches of the oceans of our world have cornucopias' at each end, and will suitably hold any garbage discarded regardless, of race, creed, religion or sexual preference of the discardee.
