If you mean virus attacks, if you get a Macintosh, you don't really have to worry about viruses. Other than that, with a PC just get some good virus protection software and update it regularly.

The above answers are great if you dont already have a virus. If you do there are two things you can do. The easiest is to take your computer to a pc repair shop in your area. Tell the tech there you think you have a virus. Most of them can remove viruses and then install an antivirus program or update the program you already have.
The other option is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and then all your software yourself. Its easier than you might think. Especially if your comp came with a recovery cd. All you have to do is insert the Windows operating system cd or your pcs recovery cd. At the prompt, select reinstall windows. It will reformat the hard drives and reinstall the os. Then its just a matter of reinstalling your other software the same way you did when you got the pc new. I recommend going to the websites of the hardware and software companies you have products from and getting the latest drivers and patches instead of just reinstalling from the cds

Iuse Avast for antivirus from www.avast.com. You have to register but it is free for home use. If you have windows XP service pack 2 for your operating system you have a firewall built in which i believe is adequate unless you are paranoid.

Install an anti-virus program and run it.
I recommend the free AVG AntiVirus - get it here:

I have been using it for years. It is a fine product.
