Okay so I've read the other lemon juice to lighten your hair entries, but one of them said that if you have dark hair then your hair will turn orange! I have dark hair and I really want to try the whole lemon juice thing.. so my question is... if anyone with dark brownish hair acutally tried lemon juice in your hair method? And if you have, what was the result? I hope it wasn't orange! Thanks!

That's weird that it didn't work for some people -- although I wonder if they used real lemons or that lemon bottle juice stuff... USE REAL LEMONS. My experience: I used to do that back in 9th and 10th grade and it made my hair get some blonde streaks (which is what I was going for). Granted, I was into sports then and played outside in the afternoon a lot. I had dark brown hair back then as well. So it might have not been solely the lemon juice but the sun played a part also.

When I was a kid, my blonde friend lightened her hair with lemon juice. I wanted to do it, too. I have dark brown hair, though, and lemon juice only made me smell like a lemon.

If it does have any effect at all, you will get a raw, orange color. It's the way it is when you are a brunette; the only way to truly get a nice blonde tone is with a lightener, done by a professional.

I never had, but you can try yourself. Cut a small amount of hair from the back of your head (underneath, like near your neck) and use lemon juice on it as you would your head. That way you can kind of preview what your hair will look like.
I doubt it would turn orange, unless you are using another product along with the lemon juice.

i have dirty blond hair and i asked my hair dresser about the lemon juice thing. She said that it dries out your hair and makes it stringy and stuff. But she did recommend this; freshly squeeze a lemon and mix it in with your conditioner. This way it will lighten your hair in the sun and still moisturize it at the same time. I'm pretty sure it would work with your hair as well. Good luck!!

i heard that lemons or limes will give you your natural highlights. But i dont think it makes people with dark hair have orange hair! If i were u i would take the tips of your hair and try the lemon or lime on it! if it turns orange then you will only have little bit of orange and u can cute that part off!

My friend tried it hoping to get highlights, and nothing happened. So, I wouldn't even worry about putting lemon juice in your hair. By the way my friends hair is dark brown. =D

Don't Do It!! I did it one time and it took my hair forever to grow out of the neon orange color that resulted. If you want highlights or to lighten your color get a color kit and do it yourself or get a professional - in the long run it's cheaper and looks beter.

Nah its fantastic. No damage. Alot of persons do this on purpose then lay out contained in the solar. It can provide some helpful streaks blonde (or a minimum of lighter) streaks. so in case you werent contained in the solar it probable wont replace. yet in case you've been you've some helpful mild streaks.
