When we make a mistake in English, we quickly correct ourselves by saying "I mean;" then we say what we ment.

How do you do this in Spanish? Is it "digo?"

You could use "digo", but it the proper thing to say is "quiero decir", which means "I mean to say". And "digo" means "i'm saying". So you would want to use the past tense phrase instead of the present. So, I highly suggest using "quiero decir". "Digo" would also work but is not as proper.

laydlo pretty much has the answer, you could say disculpamé, que quiero dicer es and then whatever you wanted to say or you could use perdónamé, but perdón is used more for when you bump into someone or something like that. The way people use Spanish in the USA is very different from the way it is used in a Country where Spanish is spoken and whatever you do, don´t trust those free translation sites because they aren´t translating the text in it´s context, only word by word and that is something very different.

Quería decir. I wanted to say (I meant)
Usually I would say, "perdón, quería decir ____." Basically this means, "sorry (/excuse me) I meant _____."

It's more of a "no, no" accompanied with the hand motions ...
