If you have parental consent, 17. That means you can leave for bootcamp then. Without parental consent, you have to wait until you're 18. You get all the benefits of any other branch. You get a GI Bill (for college), you get a steady paycheck, you have housing and food, you get free medical and dental, you can travel all around the world, you can get VA loans (they have a much smaller interest rate), and most importantly, you become a warrior for the greatest country on Earth!!!

You can be 17 with parental consent but without 18. You get allot of benefits but in the big picture it is not what the Marine Corps can give you it is what can you get out of it. They will provide you with everything you need to better yourself but if you let it go to waste then you get nothing. You have to make the effort, initiative.
As for the trash talkers, ignore it. Chances are what they know about the Marine Corps is from word of mouth. Banshee...how many of those rapes and murders did you see over in the dirt? I'm sure not quite as many as what you read in the papers. It is easy to talk trash when you watch a war from the comforts of your own home. That's fine. You have that right... you're welcome.

You can join the military at 17 but only with parental consent (or being an emancipated minor) you can expect to work your tail off possibly see some interesting countries in your course of service. You will be getting an education of some type to include discipline and team work, and if you last long enough a retirement pay check...

You need to be 18 yrs old. You will receive good discipline and will be totally brainwashed into believing you are invincible. Then Bush will send you to Iraq where you will become canon fodder to be murdered for absolutely no good so what ever except to make rich men richer.
I did not believe this always, but I have studied and learned that the only ones who win in a war are those who supply the materials to fight with. They could care less if you get your brains blown out or your arms and legs blown off as long as they get their money.
Forget this pride and honer BS and it isn't for your freedom either...it is for money and not in your pocket!
Stay out of the military and get a good education instead.

From what I remember, you have to be 18 to join the armed forces(17 with your parent or guardian's permission). To be honest, if you want to join the Marines, do it because you want to. Serving in the armed forces fosters a sense of pride in not only your country, but within yourself. Make sure you're in decent shape and meet all the requirements. Good luck to you and Semper Fi, honey!

18, but some judges hand out a choice to juvenile criminals age 17 to either join the army or go to a juvenile detention center. Is there any more you need to know than "besides helping the USA."
God bless America

Nothing. I think the only thing that is going to happen is that ur most likley gonna die, Bush is just sending all the people and letting them die! We are not in danger anymore, and at first he sent millitants to Afaghanistan when the trouble aint even there. I dislike this government mostly Bush. The goverment is messed up.

18. While you are in do something for yourself and learn a really good job and get all the education you can. Take advantage of everything they have to offer. It will make it easier for you on the outside when you get out.

18 17 with parents consent. If this country is not good enough to fight for than you aren't good enough for this country. I'm not sure if that was the way you meant to phase the question or not.

18.
the good that comes from it is character development, body development, spiritual development, and intellectual development. And if helping your country isn't a good enough reason for you, you may not want to join the Marines.
PS: you have to be willing to fight/die in a war.
