The only way to get over your fear of pain is to meet it head on.If you keep being afraid of getting hurt you will never commit to your art and hold yourself and your sparring partners back.Yes it hurts but remember that when you spar you and your partner should be using control.Take it gradually at first then as you become more confident in your abilities and sparring you will be surprised at how well you can tolerate pain after you spar for a while. But remember that their are different levels of pain. Some pain is the kind that stings and you can walk it off and others are the kind where you say okay that hurt and enough is enough.Don't get discouraged or frustrated if you seem to get hurt often sparring at lower belt levels.Take it from me I've been sparring for ten years and I'm a forth degree black belt in Taekwondo and third in Hapkido. I would rather spar a black belt than a lower belt any day.Lower belt levels don't have the control or accuracy that black belts have so they try to use power with every kick and have bad aim.

I sort of have the same problem, except reversed. I'm afraid of hurting someone when I spar them, but since I've been practicing for a very long time, I've learned to refine my small movements and hand/eye coordination so that I do not hit anyone on accident.

My advice is to embrace it, to be fearful yet brave and dive head first.

Remember that while sparring (non-full contact) getting hit is likely to happen, while getting hit hard is not likely to happen.

Don't block a punch, just let yourself get hit and see it's not so bad. Tell your partner to go lightly.
