If you need to make $$$ this summer:

Cut grass
Baby-sit
House sit for people going on vacation (pick-up mail, feed pets, water plants)
Open a lemonade stand
If you're over 18, call temporary employment agencies and see if they have work.

If you don't need the cash, you could volunteer at:
a hospital
a clinic
with a political campaign (it's election year in DC)
a business (some businesses will take free help, call it an unpaid internship on your resume)

Get out there and do something!

It is hard to give you some ideas and accomplishments, because I am not sure of your age or if you are a college student off for the summer.

I can't believe you can't find a job?? You can put a ad in the paper for work.. if you are for the summer, then you can spend your time getting your business organized, things thrown away at home,,, visit family, volunteer at a local homeless shelter, open up a carwash w/ a group of friends,, find a summer camp where you can be the counselor in an area in which you are good at.
Read and catch up on books, or get ahead on books that you know that you will read in school.

But, keep trying to find a job.. don't waste you time on here,,,,,, you need to keep busy.

For next year, you need to look for summer work starting in May when colleges let out. College students snatch up summer jobs fast so by the time hs kids try to get them the positions are filled.

You live in DC - go to the zoo, redo your room, help around the house, find a hobby, go to the beach, plan a trip somewhere...

Go to Union Station and count all the people that you see entering the Metro Station. Then try to remember what they were wearing. Should keep you busy.

Oh me too!
No one wants to hire me and summer has been really boring so far!
If I had any suggestions, I 'd let you know, but I'm in the same spot as you are.

Volunteer! It will make you feel good and you won't be bored. Also, you can find a place that has other people your age and you can even make new friends
