You are right, the reasons are
-tons of work,
-an enormous amount of new information to study in order to become updated in your specialization
-Many doctors are married within each other.
-dealing everyday with arrogant people like you and trying to make them feel better.
Well, here goes a solution:
If you want medicine-related information, then pay a subscription and start learning by yourself. There you can make as many questions as you want.
If you think that preventive medicine is something that doctors are ignoring, then think about vaccines and the advices that are sometimes the main part of a consultancy.
Stem cells, why should a general doctor know the last info about the subject if is a field so hyper-specialized that only people who only learn about them can understand? Are researchers dumb too???
Aging process...coq10 ???
Well, my answer comes up because I am a physician loosing my time giving you an answer to put my mind in off since most of what I listen is very painful and sometimes it is necessary to have a good doses of innocence to understand that in life not everything that shines is gold.
Culture cannot be found in books.
Intelligence is not acquired at the University.
Wisdom only arrives to the humble ones.
In the meantime, get some fun feeling superior now that you can.

Very interesting to meet people who are very smart enough like you!
Do you have any idea how to get and survive at medschool? How about residency and fellowship trainning?
How many times did you ever been consulted a medical opinion of a doctor?
If you think doctors are dumb...why the hell you guys paying for a useless medical advice and prescription? (you've been out-smarted by a dummy ---- now who is dumb?)
Why the heck you were asking so much outside the doctor's knowledge? Do you think doctors knows everything? If happens a person didn't know something you will consider him/her dumb? That was totally crazy buddy!!! Why the hell you were asking too much if you cant even spell such a simple words!
If you really think doctors are dumb..... then go to medschool and lets find out if you can survive even only for a single day!

There are two things, yea even three things, to remember about your doctor. First, your doctor is human. Second he generally stays focused in the direction of his training. Third, he is probably NOT a good diagnostician as they are among the rarest things on earth.
In the medical profession they usually blame insurance problems for the many tests. The truth, I say again, is that diagnostic talents are rare. Honest, if diagnosis were easy
we wouldn't be seeking a medical opinion in the first place.
You seem upset about some doctor not telling you what you wanted to hear about alternative medicine? I have had the same experience. But I must tell you that we ourselves have the final responsibility for our health. When push comes to shove you are responsible for finding your own answers.
For another example we have a spell check function on this site. Working or not. we are still responsible for our spelling!

I think they are ten times smarter than you.
As for the prescribing pills for a virus...it's to alleviate the stress of the disease. People come to the doctor because they think it's going to be a quick fix. It's all psychological.
But...if they are so dumb and you know so much about the medical profession. Go to medical school. See how it works out for you. Probably won't last a semester.
Remember that 50% graduated in the bottom half of their class.

Yeah and so do lawyers, and every other profession that requires education. Not just doctors.

"I mean beside they know how to diagnose a deaseas ,

(1)Seems like not knowing how to spell is one of your qualities too.
(2) Of course most of them can't keep up with the latest research, and no body knows why we age for sure there are just a bunch of theories.
(3) Every doctor knows about stem cells. It's basic biology.
(4) With major advances happening daily they have to stay open minded.
(5) I'm sure you've heard of the coenzyme Q10 while surfing on body building websites; and once again it's BASIC BIOLOGY so it's impossible for a doctor who studied the subject for his whole friggin' life not to have heard of it.

No. Doctors are not dumb in general. Some may lack some street sense as medical students spend most of their time in school educating themselves. Some may not be able to do electrical work, or fix a car, but hey, they can afford to pay someone else to do it. That's smart.
The doctors I worked for were very smart, kind, and compassionate people.

Considering the amount of typos in your question, I think it's a bit of the pot calling the kettle black. . .
I'm not saying all doctors are geniuses but they receive a substantial amount of education. The things you mention...doctors do know about. I'm not sure what kind of doctor you are going to. I mean, sure if you go to Dr. Dick running a practice out of his house with a degree from Harvord (got that?) is probably not your best bet...but if you go to Johns Hopkins or any other reputable institution I am sure you will find many highly educated, extremely intelligent doctors.

Anyone who spells the word "deaseas" this way should not be asking this question.
which witch is which??
other "than" that they are "incredibly close-minded" dumb people
And it's "preventative" medicine ... hormone replacement "therapy" ...
"one" of the doctors didn't know what coq10 "is", ????
"Just" plain "flat-out" (have no idea what "aout" is all about) ...
I mean, come on!
You must be one of those idiot, douche bag doctors you're referring to!!!

I work with several doctors every day that I work in the ICUl I disagree with you, doctors are not stupid. Most of the doctors I work with really care and are constantly updating their knowledge. I would not be a doctor as they do not have a life. Their families suffer for their career. I give a shout out to all doctors and want them to know I see them from both sides. As a patient and as a partner in patient care.

Heh, I've known a couple of nurses who say they know much more than the doctors do. They are around the patients a lot more than doctors, and pretty much learn about all sides of medicine.
When my dad was sick, the doctors were fighting with each other (right outside my dad's hospital room). This was way out of line.
