Its just the natural thing to do. Who walks with their arms stick straight?

I thought it had something to do with balance.
But it really has to do with metabolism. When you walk and do NOT swing your arms, your metabolism never speeds up, like it should.
The more you swing your arms, the higher your metabolism and the better you feel. Probably has something to do with working the shoulder muscles.

I was thinking that by raising you arms that it helped with the heart rate. The more you move the faster the heart beats and the better the work out

When you walk, your center of gravity is constantly changing so your arms move with you. People who walk to burn calories intenitally move their arms to burn more energy.
