if the bones were BOILED - you CANNOT give them - boiling makes the bones weaker.. smoked bones are ok but ribs are really risky for a big dog...

Ok..I have had several dogs and each time i ask my vet what sort of bones can i give my dog..RAW bones are good for dogs..it helps to keep their teeth clean. Bones like ribs are good raw. Things like beef tail bones etc . They are big and they love to get the marrow from the bones. Raw Chicken or turkey necks are good for dogs too. They love them..But never give your dog any cooked bones if you can aviod it. If you are real curious ring your vet and just ask them..At least you will have your own piece of mind for finding out. Cheers!

Yes. Doggies can chew on rib bones all day long, and they won't splinter.

Birds have hollow bones, which aids them in flying. Hollow bones splinter easily. That's why you don't give pets chicken bones.

If they are cooked, they splinter and lodge in the dog's digestive tract....very dangerous!!
I had a very large Black Lab / Great Dane mix that we gave a cooked ham bone to. He ate the entire thing and developed colitis. It had splintered and lodged throughout his intestines. There was nothing that could be done and he was in a lot of pain. He had to be put to sleep...I miss him so much...So, please do not give bones to your dog...it could be fatal.

Never, never give a lab bones period. It could splinter in their intestines and cause serious problems.

Go to pet store and ask for the toughest chew toy that they have.

no dog should EVER be given any type of bone. They can chew off pieces of bone and they can become lodged in their throats or intestines. Then you will pay hundreds or thousands of dollars in vet bills for surgery to remove these pieces. Just don't do it!!!!!

No leftover bones are good. Buy a dinobone brand bone from the store, and please, always watch the dog while it's chewing, or atleast be in the same room.

If they are pig rib bones, no, they splinter too easily and can hurt the dog's stomach. If they are cow rib bones, I think it's alright.

NO BONES FROM THE KITCHEN EVER! IT'S WAY TOO DEADLY TO RISK IT.

Secure the trash at all times if it contains bones.

Stick with the special kind from the pet store.
