While some men have preferences on what they find attractive and even fewer will go so far to exclude people based on one physical characteristic, most don't care much.
With me, it's how you look that's important. If you look cute as a brunette and trashy as a blond, I thinks I'm going with brunette. Some people look good some ways, others look hideous. I for one could never truly pull off pastels easily.
It depends on the person.

I've never known a guy that says he prefers blondes, but I think it's because I live in Chicago. I think it depends on the region of the US you are in. The southerners definitely prefer the blondies. In general though, a big mane of blonde hair catches more attention initially than a demure short hairstyle, and therefore a blonde may get hit on more. It's the same principle with the large breasts. It doesn't mean you are more desirable. It's like having a yellow pages ad with bold print instead of normal font.
