In every clime adored,

Perhaps your answer lies from someone in the Catholic Church.

"catholic" means "universal". God is Father of all mankind. For all Time, in every time. "clime" is for climate, or latitude position on the planet Earth. Saints refer to Christians, savage refers to uncivilized, tribal humans. Sage is a philosopher. Jehovah is the name attributed to the One God by Jews (YAWEH). Lord means Master, Ruler.

It sounds to me like a non-believer trying to honor to a nonspecific supreme being.

"Father of all" refers to the supreme being or "God".
"In every age, In every clime adored" claims "God" has always been worshipped all over the world.
"By saint, by savage, and by sage" means everyone worshipped "God" whether religious, uneducated or educated.
"Jehovah, Jove, or Lord" shows the non-belief of the author as he gives a jewish name, old roman name and christian name for the one supreme being.

The poem refers to mankind's natural recognition that there is a "Higher Power".

"Jehovah" is the Judeo-Christian term for the Almighty
"Jove" is a nickname for Jupiter (Zeus).
"Lord" is a mushy honorific for any great deity.

It's interesting that people today need to decide if they will worship a true god, a pagan god, or an indistinct god.

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

Seems to be a praise type thing that basically says:

Father of all things, through all time and loved everywhere ( all climates/climes) by saints ( probably church members),savages( uneducated people), and wise men...Jesus ( and then a couple of different ways to say Jesus...

Basically it is just naming Jesus and calling to him as someone loved through all time, space, and by all types of people.

I think it is pretty common to makes prayers a little bit flowery like that when you call on a particular person/saint by name...( mary, full of grace...and so on... just a descriptor basically....like someone wouldn't know who you were talking about...**OH, THAT GUY** :)

IT'S AN ADORATION TO GOD,leading into ecclesiastical prayer!

(Jesus simplified this in "The Lord's Prayer")

I think it means that since the beginning of time, all over the world, all creatures, human and animal has loved God. I didn't say every human or creature loved him. God made us all whether we acknowledge Him or not. Since the beginning of time, some of us have as well as the animals and all He created.

He means to say that there is and always has been the one god, regardless of the name people happened to give him, and was worshipped by persons of every kind, whether they knew it or not.
