My mother, myself and my daughter were each named after our respective grandmothers. We took the first name from 1 grandmother and the middle from the other. That way both sides of the family were honored and a family tradition is carried on. Now, if MY daughter would just have a girl, instead of 2 boys...

I already have a daughter. I named her Bailey. When I was a teenager my favorite show was WKRP In Cincinnati. One of the characters on there was named Bailey. I thought that was the neatest name for a girl. Years and years later when I did have a girl, that is what I named her. I looked up the name and it means Bailiff, or of the courts.

Noelani - beautiful one from Heaven
Aisha - life (or beautiful)
Zanisha - meaning unknown
Think of what you want the name to sound like. Do you want a soft, lilting sound, or a gutteral sound? If you want the name to have meaning, do you want the meaning to be the most significant or would you prefer the name to sound pleasing as well. There are several books and web sites to help with this decision. Think of a person who really inspired you. What does her name mean?

I named my daughter Summer Leigh. There really wasn't any meaning behind it, but she was born in the summer time. 07/15/2005. Lee is my Uncle's middle name, but of course I gave her the female version.

I did name my girl Morgan Nichole. Morgan is a Celtic name meaning "From the sea", and Nichole is the feminine of the French name Nicholas, and it means "People's victory". I did not, however, pay any attention to those names when I chose them. They had been chosen since I was a teenager. :-)
