My children attended tribally operated schools with state approved cirriculum , and Native American cultural awareness as part of that cirriculum. I volunteered at the schools many times.
The reservation is not a place that most South American descendants would be comfortable sending their child, so there were few if any "Illegal Immigrants" around to distract my children. My people have taken on the responsibility to provide a good education for our future generations.
We have schools from headstart to 12th grade, mainly funded by tribal assets, with quite a few grants and some limited scholarship programs for those pursuing a college education.

How would illegal immigration effect my education? Schools are already over crowded and have a shortage of teachers on top of more problem. Illegals don't play a role in that.

Not much. The fact is that illegal immigrants do impose a deficit of over 12 billion dollars yearly in the United States. However, this is but a fraction of ONE percent from our overall (I believe 8 trillion) economy. In either good or bad way there is not much impact, including education.

Your child may be in a class that has multiple children that don't live in the district taking up teacher attention time.

Your child's school may be on a watch list because of illegal immigration. All it currently takes is 40 students of any identifable group or subgroup to do poorly on the test.

Considering we live in an area that is highly hispanic and students have to be taught in spanish...it's a pretty sad situation. When classrooms are crowded with 40 students because half of the teachers need to teach ESL classes it's not good.

I don't really feel one way or another about illegal immigration. I think like everything, there is a postitive and negative side. I'm not taking sides, but I think if someone is going to live here, they need to come here and learn the language. Don't expect the schools to pay teachers 40K plus a year to teach your children, or to take your driving test in spanish or whatever language you speak. Learn it yourself and teach your kids.

here ya go again .How would you like your child in kindergarten through 12th grade attending classes with kids who can't read, write, speak or understand English--or American education values? Furthermore, how would you feel if those students felt zero investment in education, in English and the American way? How would you like your child's education dumbed down to that of a classroom from the Third World? Guess what? Today, if you're a parent of a child in thousands of classrooms across America, that's what's happening to your children with your tax dollars.

well they meet a variety of races and learn there is good and bad in every race then the learn to not be racist. If you where from another country you would also like to be here in america so do put down any one just because they had to sneak here for a chance at a dream, some people just want nothing more then an education so they can go home and work.

Because the state spends money on illegal immigrants rather than putting it in schools! Did you know that the state drives them to doctors pays for all the pills no matter what the cost! this is just one of many.

It's not, but my will homeschool. I don't really see how illegal immigration would affect it, anyway, even if they went to public schools. It's not like illegal immigrant children mean that my child couldn't go to school.

I dont think illegal immigrants should be allowed in our school systems. They are already crowded and underbudget. Allowing many more children in whose parents dont pay taxes to help should not be tolerated
