We all know how gay-bashers claim that God hates homosexuals, but where in the bible is that stated? I've searched all throughout the old and new testaments and come up with nothing that states, "God hates homosexuals."

Cheesepuff-- Thank the others who responded but think of this....the Bible, as we know it today has endured numerous iterations of translation. As many people know, when you translate a document, the translation is subjective and the written outcome is at the discretion of the translator. The original language of the Bible is Hebrew with a few chapters of the books of Ezra and Daniel recorded in Aramaic. Probably not the easiest of languages to understand and certainly some room for error in the translation of literal meanings.

If I say to you "Gruss Gott" (German greeting found in the Bavarian areas), it can be translated as Hello, or Glory to God....Go figure. It all depends on the context of the words and how an individual receives the message. My point here is that while the Bible does indeed state "man shall not lie with another man" it isn't intended that two men shall not fall in love and join together as a couple. Much of the Bible is written in figurative language. To understand a passage properly, you must acquaint yourself with the kinds of figures of speech. It is obvious that if we interpret literal language as if it were figurative, or figurative as if it were literal, we will certainly miss the meaning. Lord knows we don't all have sex lying down.

Do you believe that I Corinthians really intends that women shouldn't speak in church? "As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church" No? Me either. The amen pew falls silent. However, what I do believe is that the person who translated this section of the Bible into English was a man, who probably caught his son with the farmhand.

Long before life as we know it, the Catholic church, God bless Catholicism, married homosexual couples (I can just feel the disbelief). Perhaps the Italian version of the Bible clearly states that two men should lie down togetherbecause they were certainly performing same sex unions long before this ruckus entered the US. Who knows. At this point ya'll stop what you're doing and Google John Boswell or same sex unions in premodern times. There are actual documented ceremonies between two men.....dang, and you said it couldn't be done. However, at some point the Romans, the Italians, and the majority of Europe, excluding the Dutch, had a change of heart. I don't know why. Now, who are we? Conservatives from England. You think us conservatives are going to go for two men at the altar? Probably not....that's it, the translator of the Bible was a conservative man with a gay son and a nagging wife!

A resounding round of applause to the many who answered your question with quotes about this and about that all of which seem to indicate something is amiss with two men being together, but NONE of which give a clear and concise message regarding the topic. (applause, applause, applause). Try again, but do a bit more research. And yeah, Glory to God, my buddy Buddha, and Allah too.

You won't find it,not from Jesus actual things he said, you will find what someone else said and wrote and picked out and chose what should be in the Bible and what shouldn't.
Jesus doen't mention the word virgin either, not in his own words.
I think thats just the way he wanted it,to push us into faith and choices, you must have faith to believe in a book thats been gone over rewriten and scribes wrote alot of it,unless of course you think GOD sat down and penned it himself.
faith in whats in it and choices to believe it or not.
you can also look in the Hebrew and Greek originals, whoops, not there!
God doesn't hate Homosexuals only homosexual haters do.
Do you think GOD made a mistake and let homosexuals on the earth,or does it say somewhere WE ARE ALL GODS CHILDREN.
It is your choice, the only problem with making the wrong one is it KILLS people.

God does not hate anyone for going against his will. He is a loving Father who wants what is best for His children. In The Bible, and through His prophets, he is trying to teach us that homosexuality is not healthy for the human race. I don't think it would work out for any mammal race, since the species would die out. Even fish and birds would become extinct on a homosexual routine. It's just not good policy. God made things the way they are for a reason.

Leviticus 18:22- You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

God isn't going to hate someone for being homosexual. He doesn't hate anyone- he loves everyone- but he does hate the actions they are involved in. He doesn't approve of homosexuality (it is sinful) and he will be disappointed, but he will forgive you if you ask for forgiveness.

Hope that helps!

The word homosexual is a word invented after the bible was written. So you won't find that in the bible,
The word sodomy comes from the word Sodom which was a city completely destroyed by God because of the sin of sodomy. The law of sodomy is on the law books of many states And that is one of the reasons that H.G. and Lesbian lobby are making a big fuss. Some will say that the story in the O.T. is fictional, but that is not true.

It doesn't exactly state that God hates homosexuals but it does say that marriage is between a man and a women. By the way, God doesn't HATE anyone.

God does not hate.
God does not hate homosexuals.

...and there is NOTHING misinformed about it!

lets start somewhere....when and if we are trying to reach non believers, we must understand as Christians that the word of God is" meaningless" to them!
(1 Corinthians 6-16)
i think of Babylonia, i think of the author of confusion, i think of myself before i was saved, and i speak to people in a way i believe they will most understand. when Mainworry gets his Bible babble on, the only people hes not turning off are Christians already, i mean nothing insulting, however i see this clearly. the Word of God is priceless and precious to those that have the Holy Spirit, but to those who do not, like it says.......meaningless.

so heres my answer again, simple and to the point....yes it says in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, BUT NOWHERE does it say GOD HATES HOMOSEXUALS!
and that my friends was the question.........does God HATE?

my answer is NO!!

I agree with Sarah, (next pg.) She, sums it up perfectly and precisely, give that girl 10 points!

Romans 1:26-27 (to keep it in context, you should actually read 1:18-32)

Leviticus 18:22

Also note that Jesus stated that God's original intent for sex was between a man and a woman who were married in Matthew 19:4-8 (this passage also condems divorce, pre-martial sex, adultry, etc. by implication).

There are probably others, but this is all that I can name just off the top of my head.

First, understand that God does not hate anyone. God does hate sin. As for the references you search for, try Leviticus 20 or Romans 1. Those are a great start.

In Leviticus, just before (after?) the part about eating unclean food. Eating pork and homosexuality are both an "abomination."
Be fruitful and multiply was taken very seriously at that time and people married very young (early teens). If a man did not recognize his sexual orientation until he had married, he would be apt to leave his wife and children with no support. Perhaps that is why it wasn't acceptable.
