I home school my sons and some people think I shouldn't have that right stating society should. I say when society gives me children then they can have a say. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." This is the U.S.A. not Ancient Sparta where the government owns the children and their parents.

Those people undoubtedly don't have children. If they would wake up and see just where society has gotten us today, they would all be clamoring for home schooling! Public schools are frightening and more like jails than schools. Parochial schools have unbelievably expensive tuition. hhuummmmm Home schooling is looking better all the time, huh?

Some of the brightest people I know were home schooled. I think that our society has much guilt. They condemn homemakers, stay at home mothers, parents who choose to teach their children in a safe, loving environment, basically anyone who decides not to work outside the home. America needs to wake up and realize that all these wonderful people they are criticizing are the ones who are keeping the family network alive.

Well, some people think that "It takes a village", though, when you consider some of the things the person who said that did, I'd have to say, "What kind of a person does it take to do something like that...? I will tell you. It takes a VILLAIN!" That's what I think of those who would indoctrinate children without their parents'
approval.

You are raising your children in the fear and admonition of the LORD. Keep on keeping on!

Society has an obligation to make some effort to protect children from themselves and others and around them. However, society does not have the right to tell parents what to do with their children,no matter how unwise it seems.

I also homeschool, I believe that God gave me my children to raise properly and the government shouldn't be able to infinge on my rights as a parent, unless I give up those rights (by breaking the law, ect.)

Some people don't like home schooling, but it is your right and as long as you have social time for your kids there's nothing wrong with it.
I have a neighbor who home schools and at first her kids lived a very sheltered life and that's not good, they have to experience the outside world both bad and good,to have real living skills as they get older. :):)

Children have rights. Society has an obligation to try to protect their rights, because children are not strong enough to protect themselves.
