My question is: If atheists can't stand the fact that christians spread the word about their faith, minister, and try to recruit followers, why then do atheists/agnostics do the same to christians? This word, "ATHEIST" is a label you gave yourself, and it is not a religion, and you proudly say, "I have an absence of belief in the existence of God or gods", yet you too try to recruit members. One person comes to mind..... username: AtheistsRule
Just my opinion, anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

I am not trying to offend those who believe atheism IS a type of religion, it's just that everything I have read or heard about atheism says that it is not. One example:

taken out of context... we all try to push, or share, our beliefs with or on others. Again, this human nature perhaps? I am an athiest, but this might answer your question.... If it is not a religion, than it cannot be considred pushing your religion, or recruiting right? It seems like it's just semantics. It's spreading philosophy rather, or science even. So they cannot be compared. But I know what you are talking about, and it makes them seem like fools right? Consider that next time you quote scripture to a nonbeliever. It works both ways.

For the simple reason that sometimes saying nothing is occasionally the best possible answer.. everyone can relate to that, right?
That being said , being an athiest is about rebelling against the typical religions for a general lack of belief in them and all they stand for..
Because of not having a religion they are choosing nothing over the prospect of saying something or being someone outside of whatever they do (or do not) believe.
At least that is my personal reasoning.
I have my beliefs and don't bring them up or ever mention them in casual conversation..
The only 2 topics that always spark more than heated debate are war and politics.. debate is healthy.. arguements are not..

I am an agnostic, who stands poised to believe in anything that makes sense. Other than to understand it, I really don't care what anyone believes in. I haven't seen any evidence that God much cares either. I think, if there is a God, he/she might be alarmed if he Earth was about to crash into the Sun and upset his/her grand design. But I don't see him/her being concerned about what billions of red ants did.
Why athiests promote anti-religion, if they do, may be because they are always having to fight battles with theists who want to stifle progress, at every turn. Left to their machinations, I think theists would soon be burning people at the stake, trotting off to fight holy wars and thumping heathens over the head with that damn book of fables. Did I forget to mention the possibility of inquisitions; or forcing top scientists to take poison or recant their findings? And, we're nor even talking about the personal struggle NOT believe in theism. Here's a gift for Christians. I would give anything to watch as they get that glassy-eyed look on their faces...http://home.att.net/~sheryl4/ST/ST.html

Atheists are a really not atheists . I propose this question to all you atheists. Something created the ORIGINAL SOMETHING, Correct? well than that is what all faiths and religions call there God so atheists are not truly atheists, they just don't know who or what to call god. My god is Jesus But all Gods are good, so Keep up the faith, and Teach our Children the meaning of FAITH. Regardless if my God is the right God or Your God is the right God ,Faith in any God will Pull you through this EXTREMELY difficult thing we call LIFE!!!!!!

Because too many religious people believe the rest of the world should believe the same unproven, and unprovable, beliefs they hold. If people want to believe in a god and devil or faeries, that's up to them. They shouldn't try to force others to believe in their psychoses. Make a god, or even a few demons appears on the national news, and you might have proof, after they've been dissected by the government of course.

The concept of atheism is dependent on theism. And being reactionary, it bites the hand that feeds it, daily. They eat a little piece of God, every time they snap at his hand. I don't think he minds so much, at least they aren't apathetic. Even dogs get scraps from the table.
Those spiritual scraps fed me, during my long period as an atheist. You are commanded to feed his sheep, and yes, they are lost sheep. Jesus said he would even leave his flock, and search for them.
And...they are not strapping bombs to their children, as some God fearing people are most certainly doing.

Because religion is deeply flawed, such that it can be viewed as truly evil. It's the impetus of war, persecution, and terrorism. It provides reasons for fools to think they're superior to others and are therefore allowed to look down on those that believe differently.
Faith is the path of least resistance.

I think atheism is a religion and just as valid a one as Christianity. Both parties have members who are overzealous.

It is not a religion in the NORMAL sense of the the word, but 'religion' has a number of meanings and one of them is
"a philosophy of life".
Therefore, it is a religion. It has a set of beliefs and practices.
