Alternator may not be good, but make sure the fan belt isn't worn out and slipping.

I have the same kind of truck, but I have not experienced the problem you describe. However, mine has had several factory recalls. I needed the wiring harness replaced and now my cruise control doesn't work, my temperature sensor light remains on all the time indicating that my coolant is overheating when it is actually fine. The light that is supposed to be on when the hood is lifted and provide you with light at night works erratically. And I have also replaced my battery. If you haven't had the recalls performed on it, take it to a Ford dealership to have it looked over and assessed. Don't take it to a private business because that will just make things worse. E-mail me if you want to discuss this.

Look for loose wires, starting at the positive battery terminal, where the main power feed wires come off. Then check for any wires touching the manifolds or rubbing on brackets and things when the engine moves. Or you could just keep driving it until it bursts into flames.....

Nothing says "Call the fire department" like a little blue oval.

verify voltage at the battery with a voltmeter while revving it up also verify at the back of the alternator while revving(be careful)check belt tension and tensionerit is entirely possible you got aa junk alt from the parts store also check the plug in connector to see if the terminals are spread and not getting a good contact in the alternator what does the pos. batt cable look like many many fords have severly corroded pos. batt cables

alternator may not be putting out enough voltage at higher rpms when the demand for it is greater at higher speeds which then places more demand on the battery to make up for the deficiency
