Why does every religion have a different name for their supreme being(s), but Christianity's deity is simply called "god"?
I'm aware of all of the nicknames of the Christian god, but the name that he goes by the most is "god."

I think it comes from the Jewish tradition of not giving God a name, because he is beyond knowing and his name itself was so sacred it couldn't be pronounced. You may not be aware that Islamic practice is the same, in that Allah simply means God ("the God") in Arabic.

Well, its not nessicarly a lack of creativity... It shows that "God" is the ruler of all. Versus God of... the say, Earth... Then there would have to be a god of the Venus, or of Juipter. God of the sun? What about god of the universe? Is there anything beyond god of the universe? It would simply raise tooo many questions. Thus having the ruler of all, God be in question and loose faith in their believers.

You need a Strong's concordance. Look up the word God in it and see all the real names from the original Hebrew, Greek, & Chaldee language. Their are many original beautiful and awesome names for the English word God.

The Father -> Yahweh, I AM
Jesus -> Yeshuah
please do a little research before you ask questions like that.
God is the English translation for Elohim
Also, Jehovah is the personal name of God in English. Ever heard of Jehovah's witnesses? thats where it comes from

Christ is the truth of God's Word.
Christ is the life eternal.

God is more of a title, than a name...
God's true name is unknown, to be written on the foreheads of the Elect come judgement day....
He's also referred to as YHWH, (Yahweh) Jehovah, Eli, Elohim.
