I met a girl that could only wear long skirts. Apparently it was because of her religion. I'm assuming it is some branch of Christianity because of what I know about her. She always has to wear shirts, even in gym and stuff. I'm just curious of what church this is. I also wanted to know why they reqired this. I mean, is it because they want to keep the 'cleaness' of the girl, kind of?

She could be a Pentecost girl just like I am. Our body is the temple of God who is Holy, so it is important to take care of our body from that point of view, following Jesus commandments in the Bible. Also females are responsible for not making males lust in the ways we dress and act. We want to avoid to make somebody sin. Have you ever noticed how many guys stair at your backside or body when you are wearing some tight short pants or tops?
I wear not only long skirts but little longer than knee length skirts, but I understand the point is to dress modestly as I love Jesus, and I know He loves me trying hard to please Him...!!

I knew a girl like this in my high school. I never did understand what religion she was, some fundamentalist christian group. She always wore skirts and her hair in a long braid. In grade 10 she started to change into jeans once she got to school. In grade 12 she totally rebelled and dyed her hair black, cut it shorter and wore it in spikes. Her parents locked her up in the basement whenever people from her church group visited their house. I don't know whatever happened to her...but I'd be interested to know how she turned out 20 years later.

There are some 'holiness' churches that require this of their girls... But most of them require nothing of the men. It is a double standard. They may be Apostolic (Jesus only churches) or they may be Mennonite or Amish... or some off shoot of any of them...
Their whole purpose is to control.... usually with fear....and it sometimes works... but sometimes it also backfires and they leave the group to go find some freedom and normalcy. But when they do...they often pay by being 'shunned' or ostracized by their own family and the church group. Its not easy to break free from those groups.

He would have said as himself a christian notwithstanding the reality is, he wasn't. Christians have good morals and we pay interest to God. God not in any respect instructed him to pass kill possibility free Jews, he did that thoroughly on his personal because he became delusional. I purely see him as a psychopath and his Christians comments were only a cover up. because if he had genuinely study the bible, he don't have finished any of this. he may no longer were an atheist and this is totally accessible that he believed in some type of fake god made up in his head. notwithstanding the reality is, he's now in hell with different atheists. so, you won't be able to say he became a Christian. i'm so ill of atheists like you making such rude and misrepresenting statements. i recognize the way you're saying "incredibly in the present day even as all you gotta do is look IT UP!!!" why do not you lookup God? why do not you genuinely pass study the bible?

I can only say who it isn't, My family are Jehovah's witnesses, modest dress is expected, but there is a limit where sticking out like a sore thumb isn't right either, we all have tasteful clothing, modest jewelery if we wish, and no problem wearing small amounts of make up when we wish. The key to the Witnesses is a balanced view of dress and grooming.

I'm LDS and in my church we believe that it's important to be modest. Girls are encouraged to wear shirts with sleeves that don't go low in the front or the back, and that are long enough not to show your stomach. We don't wear booty shorts, and our shorts probably go around our fingertips. Then our skirts go to our knees. It's not something everyone is forced to do, but it is very very important to our beliefs. Besides, it makes you so much less self concious when you are not hanging out everywhere! :)

Pentecostals and Mennonites are two that I know of. Also I am Catholic and after reading "Dressing With Dignity" all I will wear is dresses and skirts. I choose to honor my God given femininity.Modesty and femininity are the reasons behind this.

Also Mormon here. Just an FYI, Mormon women only "have to" wear dresses if they're serving a mission, not to P.E., etc.

I'd say Pentacostal. (Not sure if I spelled that right) I had a Pentacostal friend who always had to wear skirts. She also didn't cut her hair or wear makeup. Hope that helps.

TODAY THEY MAKE JEANS JUST FOR WOMEN SOME CHURCHS DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS. BUT THEY WEAR ONLY DRESSES FROM THIS VERSE.
De 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
