My mother has NASH. It is a liver condition that is not caused by alcohol but makes the liver look like one of a hard-core alcoholic. My mother's doctor thinks hers was caused by diabetes. To be truthful, no one really knows what causes NASH. It needs to be monitored closesly by an internist and may result in a liver transplant eventually.

It is from a Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver. Your body is retaining fats in the liver and making your liver weak. You are processing toxins but they are not being eliminated. Go to the hospital if you develop any of the following: yellow eyes, itching skin, fever, sudden pain just below your right ribs or behind your right shoulder and or swelling appears below your right rib.

This needs close monitoring.
