There is definitely a ring of truth in that saying.
As humans, we tend to take for granted the things we have
and the things around us. We pay more attention to the little
negative things instead of focusing on the more abundant
positive things. However, in our defense, we are just a product
of our environment. For instance .... do you watch the News
on TV? How many 'positive' things do you see. When you
read the paper, how much is negative versus positive.
We have been trained from a young age to focus on the
negatives instead of the positives.
Then, when an emotional ripple is created to bring us out of
the normal routine, we then see the positives that have now
escaped us.

Yeah! Put it this way. Say u loved someone a lot, but never appreciated the things they did for u. Well one day you find out that they were just killed. Then all of a sudden u realize, they're no longer gonna be there to do the little things they used to for u? Now that they're gone, you realize what u had when they were around? Do u get that? I hope so. That's the only way I now how to explain it!!

Yes - the grass is always greener on the other side is very true. We take things for granted, and sometimes it really isnt until something is gone that you realize how valuable it was.

That is so true. I have seen that happen to alot of my so called friends. They have allowed things and people to get between us and then they are trying to get back into my life when they found out I am a true friend.

For some people, yes; however, I always knew when my children were young and I had to fun loving, kind parents that I had it all, even though I knew I did not love my husband. I knew when
ever we split, that that quote would not apply.

It is so true...Man, I had my computer die on me and my TV die on me and that was not okay...Even though that's technological stuff, it really made me be thankful for what I have and I actually thought about that very quote when that was happening...That question made me think back...Thanks! lol

Not always (I have a counterexample). But sometimes going through hardships helps you appreciate that person more, if they are there for you.
