What can I do to comfort her and stop her from barking, so she can get some rest?

Hi guys, thank you all for the 2 cents you chipped in. I talked to her, and I pat her, and I sang to her. Now she is taking a little nap. Man, wish I could get pampered like this lucky dog.

I live a few blocks from a minor league baseball stadium. My dog freaks out, too. We just try to close the drapes and turn up the TV. While the fireworks are going off, we talk to her and do our best to comfort her.

My dogs just now are in my bed.The A.C.is on as loud as it can go(I'm Freezing) But it is dulling some of that awful noise, I live in Eastern Massachusetts, so the faithful will be patriotic all stinking week.
All I can do is use white noise, like an A.C.or a Fan to dull the noise and share my bed!

Dogs have sensitive hearing. Barking is their way of showing you that they find the noise disturbing. It may even be painful to them. Keep your dog as much out of earshot of the noise as you can and comfort it until the fireworks are over.

Yes, she is scared of the loud noise, remember their hearing is alot keener than ours so the noise is alot louder to her. You should get your vet to give you some tranquilizers for her to give her on the 4th of July and New Years eve. It would be much less stressful for everyone. The older she get the worse it will get. unless she goes deaf. She will take a nap and they are not habit forming to a dog. Do it, It would be a GOOD thing.

There is nothing odd about this. Fireworks make me nervous too. Short of putting her in a noise-proof room, you will have to wait until the fireworks stop. Other than holding her and comforting her, I can't see any stop to this. My cats cringe when it thunders, but there's nothing I can do about that either.

Go to your local health store, there's a homeopatic remedy that can help some dogs that are afraid of thunder/fireworks etc, Borax. One week with the remedy (C6) 3 times a day.

) When you cry watching a movie. Maybe it’s because we hardly ever do it, but watching your heart melt just kind of melts our hearts. 2) When you bite your lip to keep from smiling. I don’t know what it is about that. But it’s freaking sexy. Especially if you have lip-gloss on. 3) When you’re playing a sport. I don’t care if it’s soccer or tennis or what, or even if you’re any good at it. All my friends adore watching their love interests go out and get physical. 4) Watching you sleep. We could, and sometimes do, do it all night. 5) Watching you do your job. It’s just awesome to watch a woman who’s an expert in something and think, "That’s my lady right there." my brother

I used to have a dog that had the same reaction- it was really awful. I normally would post something funny regarding your neighbors and their firecracker usage, but I fear getting a violation. Can she stay with someone who lives in an area where ppl aren't shooting firecrackers until the 4th is over? Poor puppy!

animals HATE fireworks. their sense of hearing is ten times greater than ours, so it is painfully loud to them. that's why they bark to equal out the pressure shock to their ears. we never let our animals near fireworks. put them inside in a small hallway (away from any windows or doors) where they can be safe & as far away from the painful noise as possible. then they will stop barking because the damage to the ears will hurt less.

Put her in a room with the radio on loud enough to muffle most of the noise or have your vet give her a sedative.
