wat CHina Tiananmen atrocities ?????????????????

It's the same reason we're more concerned about a serial killer running loose in our community than we are about the abusive father across the street. "How does it affect me?":

The true difference is the scope of the problem and how much has it affected the world at large. The Holocaust wouldn't have been the Holocaust if it had only happened in Germany. All these genocide issues that are happening in the world today that are so terrible? They're civil wars that have escalated to the point of an extreme version of total war by each faction. They are all confined to their particualr countries, and are power struggles. Yeah, it sucks that they've gone to genocide, but it still doesn't actually affect the world at large, beyond who will we be dealing with. The Holocaust on the other hand, is such a big deal because Hitler didn't just say to his countrymen "The Jews are evil, they must be eliminated from our country!" Hitler went with "The Jews are evil, must be eliminated from existence on this planet, and everyone else in the world should be under our rule as well!" He ran over Poland, France, Britain. He sent his military all over the world looking for ways to help him assimilate the Eurasian continent into his control. He was going after Russia just before he lost altogether. The guy was an evil megalomaniac bent on WORLD domination, and the extinguishing of the Jewish race all together.

So, if you have to know, THAT is why the Holocaust was so much bigger a deal than these other genocidal wars today. Because it is the difference between a civil war for power in one country vs. world war to prevent the global domination of a tyrant.

the Holocaust was over 6 years of hunting Jews and others who preached against Hitler to the concentration camps. THe method of extermination was unbelievable, to say the least. Hitler's hatred for the Jews led him to do everything to rid the world of the Jewish race.
The Tiananmen incident pales in comparison to what the Holocaust did.
Not denying that incident, either, but 6 million Jews ALONE, (not counting Christians and others who stood against Hitler) makes the top of the list.

What happened at Tiananmen Square was certainly horrific, but we're talking about the scale of events.

Deaths at Tiananmen Square, ~2500.

Holocaust deaths, 6 million (and that's not counting a single combat fatality)

because the holocaust is always being thrown into our faces. if i dont give a dam about it im a racist. but if i dont even know what tiananmen sqaure is im not even considered ignorant never mind racist. ok many jews died but how many ******* russians died too for the good cause. you guys had a terrible time of it no doubt but dont forget that countrys like england were fighting for the right to survive too. you can run off to england, america or steal land and make israel but most countrys couldnt of done that back then.
our goverments can throw it in our faces because they won. speaking out aginst modern day china could mean they stop making our toys or other **** we dont need. and while we cant bully a country as powerful as china like iraq and iran things will stay this way. this isnt the only attrocities happening in china. even though its on a smaller scale and less coverage humans are being abused everydayin china afraid to speak out for the fear of being put to death including your whole family. everyones afraid to say something incase sociality deems it not right but im not sitting back and shutting the **** up anymore

There were hundreds killed at Tiananmen Square, and it's not that it's not important to recognize that, but ELEVEN MILLION people were killed in concentration camps.

Many more were killed in the war as soldiers, and families from all over the world have relatives they still remember that died or fought in that war.

That's two real big reasons why.

WWII's total casualties were...

FIFTY FIVE MILLION people. That's about 1/6 of the entire US population. It's the entire population

How about the atrocities that are happening in Darufur, in Uganda, in Liberia, or the genocide in Rwanda? Is it because the Holocaust had Europeans involved? Are we as a society, more likely to care about people with European features, rather than Africans or Asians?

First of all, who is the "we" that is making a big fuss about the Holocaust while remaining silent about China? Victims of the Holocaust are unified and vocal about their plight. It is up to the Chinese to be as unified and vocal to bring attention to their issue.

Well, first of all, all is not silent about Tiananmen. You would have had to have your head stuck up your butt to not know about it. Second of all, 6 million freakin people didn't die in China. Kinda like comparing apples and oranges there cowboy.

We did note and discuss China at the time.

But 11 million people were murdered in the Holocaust. 6 million were Jews, but the total numbers included gypsies, elderly people, mentally retarded people, homosexuals, and people who stood up to complain about the slaughter.

The latter group included Lutheran clergyman Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was murdered by the Nazis as the allied armies were overrunning German.

The Holocaust was based on people's race and religion. Tiananmen was because of ideals. Think about it. If some KKK guy killed a black man because he was black, there would be international press coverage because that's just unacceptable. If someone killed another person because of different ideals, it'd be lucky if it made it on CNN.
