No it will not. Well, actually the phone will work but it will be in English and many of your callers will not be able to understand it. I had the same problem in Korea. I bought a phone there and then moved to Indonesia and the phone could not unerstand a single word of Indonesian. Now I have a Korean phone and also a Indonesian phone. Guess what I am being transferred to Japan. Just a couple more transfers and I will have too many phones for my baggage.

you will need to buy a SIM card when you get to india, so make sure your phone can take any SIM card (it must be unlocked)

and make sure your phone charger says "from 110 to 220 volts", because India is 220

and you will need a plug adapter. Look on line
