Well a lot of people are giving numbers aroud 20 odd but I simply don't believe that.
20 is ancient for any dog and yorkies are not exceptional. In fact, contrary to what people are saying, they DON'T live as long as larger dogs. It has to do with heart rates. Small animals have faster heart rates and you only get so many heatbeats per lifetime.
12 is already very old for a yorkie. Almost double that is fiction.

The average is around 17 or 18 years, but many live longer than that. I am so thankful they live that long, because humans get so attached to them.

Many small breeds live up to twenty years.My yorkie is nine and still bouncing around like a puppy.

Little dogs can live longer. I have a friend who's Yourkie is over 16 years old.

I know small dogs live longer lives than bigger dogs, cause they have less diseases than bigger breeds..
but i'm not sure how long they live.
