I have "doggie guilt" much like mommy guilt. I always feel like I don't spend enough time with my Beagle.

I understand that...I feel guilty too! On the week days, I hardly spend any time with my 2 Bostons. I feel like a BAD dog mommy! Even today I promised a "walkie walk" (meaning a long walk on the trail....sounds silly, but both dogs know what I mean when I say walkie walk. I wasted the whole day though, and didn't take them =( I just needed a day to vedge!

They keep each other entertained though. Maybe you can get your dog a friend?

Right now, I am not working, but I still don't do as much as I should.
So I have started having her come onto my lap for some "luvvin time" and give good rubs and massages and the follows me everywhere I go in apt. so I chase her back so that has become a game. Then I have begun getting one of her many "babies" and teasing then throwing it and she brings it back to me until she lets me know she is either bored with that or tired. Probably over the day a couple of hours or so, but then I have to take her out for short "business" walks. I talk to her a lot though, does that count? I guess I should have said that I spend all the time with her but she sleeps a lot too. I was counting the real quality time. I take her everywhere I can, unless I have to leave her in the car too long.

A 20-30 minute walk in the AM. Get home about 5:30. Take her out to potty and play for about 15-30 min. Play again later inside for about 15-20 minutes. She lays on sofa with me being petted and brushed for about 20-30 minutes. I would say 2 hours tops each day during the week. Weekends she goes everywhere I do(usually).
She's a dog. It's all she knows. She's always happy to see me but she has gotten tired of playing and will just go lay down on her own . They don't need you 24/7. Provide the food, the bath, the walk, the play, the love and they are happy whatever routine you put them in.

I feel the same way... Than again with my Lab I could spend 24/7 with her and she would want more! I try to spend at least 30 to 60 min's dedicated strictly to my pup a day (ie: walk, tug of war, running in the yard), I am very busy and I know this is probably not enough, but weekends I am home most of the time. She has a lot of toys so she is content!

now I work from home so I spend just about 24 hours with my dogs, but before working as a dog groomer i worked 8-10 hours a day,so i only spent 4 or 5 hours a day with my own dogs, they were OK and i am sure yours is too, just make the time you spend with your dog count by giving he/she good exercise while playing, and give lots of affection :):) I did also have guilt though on the long days, that I spent more time with everyone Else's dogs, but my dogs still loved me anyway and were OK like I said. don't be so hard on yourself:):)

We run/walk for about 1 hour in the morning, they get let in and out several times a day, and we run/walk for about another hour in the evening. Plus all my dogs (3) sleep in the bedroom with us, occasionally one or two will get on the bed. Not a good idea, they are huge. We have quality time everyday. Some days there is more time than others.

Well, I work about 8 hours a day. But, when I get home, I spend at least 4 hours with him. He loves it too !

I get to stay home with my 4 dogs 24/7, since I work from home. If I didn't, i wouldn't have them, because I can't handle the guilt. *heh*

i have two english bulldogs and i have been a stay at home mom since we have had them so i have always spent all day and night with them but now I'm worried my youngest son is starting school this year and i hope that they will not be lonely but i think dogs adapt to what they do daily and just love any of your time

I spend alot of yime with mine, but according to my dog trainer it's not the amount of time it's the quality. Make sure you doing something he enjoys, like playing fetch or going for a walk, when you do get to be with him.
