HYPOTHETICALLY
I own a business. You work for me. I can pay someone else to do your job. I can pay that person the same I pay you and yet save a bunch.
Well, I do not pay into workers comp for this guy. I don't pay into unemployment nor do I need to pay FICA or taxes, So I can give him the same take home as you.
After all that is said and done, I saved a bundle.
Oh, you can always find another job, with equal pay, can't you?
You would not begrudge this guy a job, would you?
You would not begrudge me saving $, would you?
Good, Glad to hear it!
All of this is made possible by your friendly neighborhood illegal alien.
I am glad you didn't report him! HE s very glad!
Thanks to your liberal stance and posturing and protesting for illegals, YOU should be glad, too!
ALL HE wants is a better life! It does not matter that it is your life, does it?

Of course none of these questions are aimed toward those who want law breakers punished, so, if you fall into that group, abstain from answering

You are still breaking the law. IF we could enforce the laws ALREADY on the books, this is what you would have in store...

8 USC Sec. 1325:

Section 1324a states: "Any person who knowingly hires/harbors/transports any illegal alien is guilty of a felony punishable by 10 years jail + $2000 fine per illegal alien + forfeiture of the vehicle or property used to commit the crime".

You speak the truth but you seem intelligent enough to realize that this issue is a double edged sword. As a business owner it is obviously beneficial for you to save a few dollars, and as an illegal it is great that they have an opportunity to put food on the table. The problem is, the cheap labor tends to slow the inflation of the minimum wage, consequently adding to poverty. Consequently the availability of entry level jobs drop for citizens, and the excess of cheap labor ensures minimum wages will not rise.

From the business owners point of view, it is a great situation. Low wages mean more profits, so it is in their interest to use illegal labor to which they can determine an appropriate wage. This ensures the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Whilst I support the illegals rights to feed their family's, I don't think broadening the gap between rich and poor is a positive thing. Though I feel for them, employing illegals to help out on a humanitarian level is like putting a band-aid on a gushing artery. Policy and implementation is the only sustainable solution.

I know I shouldn't answer, since I DO want law breakers punished ... just wanted to congratulate you on your posting ... and yes, I'm sure the pro illegals would willingly give up their jobs for the illegals, so the business owner can make an even bigger buck ... as you say, you can always find another job ... :)

I think, if the person who works for you on a regular, dedicated bases, you should respect that and keep him. You are ahead of the game even if you pay taxes, workman's comp., etc. because you have respect of the one that works for you and self respect. It's in a whole, a lot more than just dollars! Don't forget that.

DO NOT LET HIM GO to hire illegals, which to me is a crime in itself!
