How do people people have different colours on their hairs, but it is orginal?

My son has this. He was born blonde (well bald first) as it darkened one patch stayed blonde and another went strawberry red, this is completely natural and goes right down the root, the scalp seems even lighter at these patches. The patches grew as he grew but now have slowed or stopped maybe?

Everywhere we go people make comments or criticisms why I "dyed" his hair like that...HE'S 7!!! I honestly have to tell people every day that it's natural and watch them shove their foot in their mouths. I had one person say to my son, "wow, that would be cool if you were a girl" HUH????

Needless to say my son wears a hat as often as possible and HATES when people say anything.

Now for your question, I can't wait to read the answers because my Dr. doesn't know, none of the specialists he's seen (for asthma or whatever, not his hair) had any clue...

I tell him he's fabulous, special and unique. I tell him people pay a lot of good money to get their hair like his and he should be proud. I still put my money on him dying it when he's old enough to try and hide it though...poor kid.

Same way a dalmation has white fur with black spots. Certain gene combinations express a variety of hair colors.

They have their natural hair color, then they have streaks of other colors added. Some people do that every October, on their own, using color sprays for hair.

parents have different haircolor/shades and ur pretty much just born with it cuz i sorta have the same thing. my hair is pretty much brown and wen i flip it baq near my roots, its like two shades brighter of brown
