It is the most beautiful city that I have ever been to. Even if you took away all the the BIG attractions like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, there would still be more things to do than you have days in your life.

Paris is a magical city, where you will find the unexpected -- such as the MacDonald's at the foot of the Eiffel tower that sells beer along with its burgers and chips!
All kidding aside, you will find so much history in Paris, right alongside everything contemporary. The French are great innovators, in everything from fashion to automobiles. One of the things they love to do is walk, talk, drink coffee, talk, smoke, talk, spend hours at sidewalk cafes, talk -- well, you get the idea. If you want to go there 'someday' then you've got a little time ahead of you to work on a project that will increase your pleasure by at least ten times as much. Learn a little bit of French. The french are very standoffish towards foreigners, but if you can speak a few words of their language -- even if you accent is atrocious and your grammer is at a grade two level -- they will love you for trying. And they'll be happy to correct you, which means you'll get a bonus as well.
Amusez-vous!

I've been there several times and always like to visit when I get a chance. For a first visit, as touristy as if sounds, I would recommend seeing as many of the popular attractions as you have time and patience for. The Michelin Green Guide to Paris is a good reference for the popular attractions and some nice walks around specific areas.

Paris is absolutely beautiful. You can visit museums and shop at high-fashion stores, or you can just take your camera and spend weeks walking around and never run out of things to photograph. It's easy to get around there, too, with the metro and the bus system. And don't miss the Bateau Mouches river cruises. Some of them offer discounts if you visit their web sites and print them up ahead of time. (Bateaux Les Vedettes du Pont-Neuf, Square du Vert Galant, 75001 Paris, Tel: (33) 01 46 33 98 38 http://www.vedettesdupontneuf.com/english/ ) Yes, Paris is expensive, but not nearly as expensive as London. You can find reasonably priced food from street vendors or in little cafés or brasseries in places like the Rue de la Huchette or Rue Mouffetard. The closer you are to the Champs Elysees, the higher the prices will be. Don't miss Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre. And if you like art and have time for it, see Auvers sur Oise (where Van Gogh spent his last two months and now rests in a hillside cemetery next to his brother Theo) and Giverny (the home of Claud Monet with its water lily pond and little green bridge, and the gardens still just the way he laid them out). Remember you can get special fares for the Metro and the RER. Check them out before you go. ( http://www.transilien.com/FR/TouSom.htm )

Yes Ive been there and it is truly amazing. I am looking forward to go again. Paris is a city you can always revisit and enjoy. It is beautiful, very nice food and places to see. Parisians are not the friendliest of people though and you might have some hard time if you cant speak French...What I mean is, that if you ask them for directions for example, they wont say "I dont speak english" but instead they will give you directions in French just to piss you off.
And if you speak a little they never encourage you but they look at you strangely for speaking their great language wrong. But still the place is amazing.

Yes! Yes! Yes! If you ever have the opportunity to travel to Paris, go for it!
I had always dreamed of traveling to Paris and finally got my chance in college. There was a killer deal with the French Department (less than $1000 for airfare, hotel, museum pass, metro pass, group dinner) and I could not pass it up. Since then, I've sort of been promoted from "regular traveler" on the trip to co-tour leader. Don't get paid for it, but it's Paris. *wink*
You don't realize how young our country is until you visit a place like Paris.
There is so much to see, do and experience: witness the enigmatic smile of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, stroll along the Seine River at sundown, walk in the footsteps of kings at Versailles, stare in awe of a room full of Monets and van Goghs at Musee d'Orsay, pay your respects to Napoleon, wander around the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral, see where so many people were beheaded after a date with Monsieur Guillotine, stand on the steps of Sacre-Couer Basilica for a beautiful panoramic view of Paris, people watch from a street-side table at a cafe, dine on escargot at Fouquets, stroll along the Champs-Elysees, stand under the illuminated Eiffel Tower, take a nocturnal cruise along the Seine River for a different view of Paris, see the church that was built to house the Crown of Thorns (Sainte-Chapelle)...and the list goes on.

i have been and i am going again next week--its beautiful!! I love it there. there are sooo many places that you should tkae the time to see. When you go, make sure it is at least for a week. That way you are able to enjoy it. If you can though I reccomend 2 weeks bc then you can feel what it is like to live there and totally soak up the envirmonment. My 2 favorite places are the Sacre Coeur and Luxembourge Gardens!

I would love to go. My best friend went a couple of years ago and didn't want to come home. She said everything was expensive but it was a fabulous place to go visit. I hope you get to go someday (and I hope I do too!)

In my opion -I've been there five times-, Paris is one of the most beautifull cities in the world. It's expensive, dog poos are everywhere, the water is horrible but every one should see it once...
