Well a lot of men don't like spending their hard earned money and hate to shop. So we have stepped up to the plate, since someone has to do it. :p

We don't like to spend so much money, we have to. We pay all the bills, buy all the food and supplies, put gas in the car so we can go to work, pick up his prescription and his cigarettes, pay tuition so we can better ourselves and the lives of our children, and we pay taxes and insurance. The only thing women buy that are only used by themselves are "feminine products." I spend $2.50 a month on those. That is not a lot of money. Whoever said women are spending money that isn't theirs is wrong. Most of my 9 year marriage I made more than my husband. Another reason it seems that women spend more than men is that women buy things with a receipt and men give most of their money to their dealer.

Women are the weakier vessel. God made women after he realized Adam wasn't so happy. Think about it. If you look at The adam and Eve story. Eve inticed Adam to eat the fruit from the tree. Not to sound Like a Extra Godly person but it's the truth. I know because I love shopping. It's our Nature. Women are jeoulas, to, so it could be competition, not just fun. I just turned 15, I am experiencing this myself. I spent all my money I worked for in the summer on what? nothing. Women are just being women.

I don't think they like to spend anymore than most men do. But the difference with alot of women is they arn't spending money they earned so they don't really care about spending too much.
Alot of women also base their self confidence on how they look so they are always spending far too much on make-up, soaps, dresses, shoes, diet pills, and whatever else might make them pretty.
I don't see how buying $3,000 name brand dress that I could have made with scraps of cloth is "nesting". Nor do I see how buying $150 slippers that look like were made by a 3 year old during Art&Craft time is "nesting". I also don't think it's "nesting" when you buy $400 worth of make-up and soaps everytime you go to the mall.

It just seems like women spend more money because we are the ones who have to take the kids shopping, buy presents for everyone in the family (including HIS mother) and go to the grocery store. Maybe it's time MEN took care of some of these things.

First of all its Why DO (not does) women spend so much money?
As you can probably tell you are not going to get a sympathic answer from me.
If fact this question really pisses me off....
Kudos to fhornsr...My hubby only buys stuff 2-3 times a yr but it is really expensive stuff for his personal pleasure...guitar...$3000, bowflex....$1700, golf clubs...$2000. And I don't begrudge him that, he works hard for his family and doesn't complain about what I spend.
kaka....shame on you....Eve may have eaten the fruit but at least she did it for knowledge...Adam did it only because Eve asked him to....Talk about a WUSS!
To answer your question (i know FINALLY) most married, responsible women may "like" to spend money but end up spending money on the necessities and on their children. I think with the exception of my husband "toys" I have bought every single thing in our house, from the sheets to the dishes, from the appliances to HIS clothes! AND most of my clothes, by the, way are from Walmart while my kid's clothes are from Gap and Abercrombie!!!

Most women equate money & material possessions with security and comfort. Others are just vain and for the most part want to have more "bling-bling" then everyone else! Yes, shopping can be fun, but everything in moderation! Unfortunately, the shopping extravaganza can be bidirectional... Men shopping at Best Buy are no different then women shopping at Kohl's or Target!

Heh! It's not just women, dude. Ever hear the expression that "the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys?" Men tend to spend less frequently, but also tend to spend more on the items they buy. It evens out.

Shopping feels good! Who doesn't like new and 'shiny' things???...lol It's great to go out and shop carefree. It's great to find that perfect shoe or pant or top...even though many of these items will hang in the closet unworn for years...lol. It just feels good to have them.
I go shopping at least every two weeks. I used to go every week. I have my priorities in order. I've also decided to wear EVERYTHING in my closet at least TWICE and if I don't wear it..I get rid of it. I also don't buy anything that I just can't live without...this last rule worked for me because I've learned that there are many items I can definitely live without. I'd much rather save and invest...Never liked the spending money part. Still love the shopping.

It is in our nature. BUT, my ex husband could spend way more money than I could! He can spend $3000 a month on crap and not have any for bills! At least I make sure that bills are paid, then I have fun with what's left!
