I ask because from time to time I buy this sandwich from the vending machine at my job. It contains a "chopped steak". It looks like a hamburger patty to me, albeit in a long oval "steak" shape. Is this simply a marketing ploy? I have to admit, "chopped steak" does sound better than ground beef patty or hamburger.

Primarily the rgade of meat. Hamburger is more the "leftover" after the choice cuts and ground steak is the choice cuts.

Ground beef is foot through a meat grinder. Chopped steak is just that, chopped, not ground. But your sandwich is probably a processed version of chopped. Which means it might as well have been ground up.

hey,
hamburger meat is made from meat that is getting to or at the expiration date. Also, a certain amount of fat is added depending on what grade of meat you select. It is a fine grind. Chopped steak is a better grade and is coarser grind (taste better and you can do more things with it.)

It comes from a differnet part of the cow than ground beef.

I think when they call it chopped steak, it is a better cut of meat.
