If she's shopping the clearance rack she might find some pretty good deals, but if she just has to have the name and will pay anything for it than she must have somebody she's trying to impress. A smart shopper knows what good clothing and lasting clothing is made of and shops accordingly. Gap and Gymboree are NOT the only place that makes good clothing. I mean if ya'll have the money and that's what you want to spend it on, that's up to you, but there are other quality clothes out there, you just have to know what you're looking for. I have three girls and they are very well dressed and I get their clothing all over the place, and do not spend a bunch of money. Although I don't particularily care for Walmarts line of clothing at times, they do have some good stuff. What I find is that their cotton clothing shrinks and discolors fast, that's what I don't like. I do like shopping at Target for the kids, and they do have some awesome clearance racks at the beginning of summer and end of summer/beginning of fall. I have always tried to buy a year in advace and that has worked wonderfully for me since I try to buy off season. You just have to know the tricks. GL!

Some clothes from Walmart are nice and they last just as long. What I do for my son is I go to second hand shops or consiment shops and buy brand name clothes like Gap and Old Navy and other brand names for really less then you would pay at the stores..And they are really nice because most second hand shops or consiment shops will not keep any clothes that have stains one them so they are really in great condition just like new.. so maybe you could talk to her and try that it really does work for me and you save money that way and nobody knows they just think you bought them at the stores....but my secret is out now but it really does save a lot of money and it is really worth it... Good Luck hope this helps..

I shop at baby gap for 99% of my 3 kids clothing. If you get clothes off of the sales rack some are cheaper or the same price as walmart clothes. Gap has different styles of clothing than other stores.

Depends on where you live and how many are in the family..try doing some independent digging online.
Alot of these brand name places are just that, you pay extra for the brand name. Though some are good quality for children that are growing fast (young Newborn to 5) it doesn't really pay unless you have something that you want them to look really nice for.
My advice...Try getting her into Rummage sale for the play clothe's spend the $ on good times to remember for ever clothing only lasts so long anyway but memories can last forever..
But if you think that she is REALLY hooked on this then maybe a good friend or couselor could help it this is aTRUE addiction:)
Good luck

Babies R Us, Walmart, clearance racks of Gymboree and/or Children's Place, but I love going to Once Upon A Child. It's a store that carries nice, gently used name brand clothing for children. It has clothing from all those stores you mentioned your wife likes to shop, but it's much cheaper, and still in great condition! You can also sell your children's clothes to them, and get paid!

Just about ANY place is better quality than Wal-Mart is. I don't have kids but I shop at GAP and know it's a great store. Also, Old Navy has a great kids section too!

If you can afford it, then I would save my battles for more important issues. If money is tight and she doesn't work, take control of the money and give her a budget for household and children's expenses.
I personally think it is stupid to spend more on items they will grow out of when you can buy the same clothes elsewhere and put the extra in the college fund. Your kids gonna look great and stylish working at Burger King when you don't have the bucks for college because wife couldn't face reality.

the only thing that i noticed about clothes from walmart is that they shrink alot more than the clothes that i buy at gymboree..but i only buy there when they have clearance and buy a size that she should wear by that next season...but i do like gymboree better than any of them.

Childrens Place is actually not very good quality and not that expensive at all. The others are much better quality but unless she is going to re-sell them after the child outgrows them, they are not worth it.
Old Navy is where my kids get most of their clothes.

Wow, I hope it's on ebay -if not you are paying an arm and a leg...I'll tell you why. If I find a cute item on clearance, I turn around and resell it on ebay for a profit, and as you know, kids grow so fast they sometimes only wear the item three times and they are still "like new" and people like to buy like new items for a cheap price. So check it out!
