I wonder if it grieves God. I don't think it pleases Him, and I don't think it is His purpose for us as Christians.

They focus on the wrong things instead of on the author of the book they read every sunday and should read everyday. That is the focus on the small things instead of focusing on God.

And I would say it does since when the church first started out there were no arguments per se. But they listened to the church leaders and fathers. We were meant to be united in love.

It is no wonder that the world looks at us the way they do and lump is together. Every church needs to forget about the differences and get back to the basics.

You are not talking about Christians..you are talking about specific sects and cults that become so extreme that Christ would not recognize their faith as his..and it wasn't his in the first place. Christ was Jewish. Christ taught noble principles, not different than had been taught by the Jewish for thousands of years. He went about enforcing the Jewish laws that had been warped over the years by human greed. He did not set down any new rules. All this nonsense we see today is man's interpretations of this, that...you name it...but each interpretation has an agenda that is serving to someone somewhere...bet on that. IF Christ were to come back today, he would have a field day casting moneychangers from the temples, etc.

Because, even though all Christians worship the same God and read the bible, some worship him a little differently than others, and some of them believe things a little differently.

The problem lies in the fact that "Christianity" doesn't save anybody. Jesus saves! And so called christians latch on to denominational dogma rather than biblical truth. Instead of looking at their particular denominations beliefs from a biblical perspective they look at the bible from the perspective of their denomination. Thus they end up defending man's opinions rather than biblical truth. Therefore, you end up with the dissent that you are asking about. Jesus spoke of this in the Gospel of Mark:

"He replied, 'Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ''These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men."' You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." Mark 7:6-8

God's purpose is for us to spread the message of the Gospel to the unbelievers of the world. We are to let them know that they are spiritually dead in their sins and are need of the restoration of life only found in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ.

Good Question... God Bless

One seems to feel threatened by the other. I wish I had the answer to this. I know it must grieve God; but when Jesus returns, we will learn all of the details of who is right and who is wrong. In the meantime, we must pray as deeply as we can and read our scriptures.

Christian's have a tendency to shoot their wounded too! If a Child of GOD come's out of a Sin, then stumble's and goes back to it, well, I think you know what I mean-----the BOOT, instead of the BLOOD. When we learn to walk in the Mind of Christ, all of that will be in the past, hopefully.

Which would "grieve" God more?, to have some churches calling others to repent of sin or, just go ahead and sin? If you knew someone was sinning would you just let them sin or call them to repent? What is Biblical? God has shown us what He accepts in worship and we are not to offer anything else.
Luke 17:3
Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

Laddie, (or Lass, as the . . .etc.)

Just remember, they've missed the whole point, now, haven't they? and keep a forgiving heart, yourself, when you think of them. Hate the only the sin, love the sinner.

Of course, all of us grieve our loving Heavenly Father. But he has hopes we'll eventually learn better behavior. . .

Good luck.

God cannot be grieved. Catholics are the only true religion. God is a Catholic,...or maybe He's a Methodist. One thing's for sure- He ain't no Baptist.

God said in Revelations that some of these churches are so disgusting that he wants to vomit them out. Some of our churches are so worldly and sinful that it makes true Christians sick. They make the name Christian become a foul stench to non believers.
