I used to get depressed, but now whenever I'm in a situation when I'm feeling down I call a friend or family member and talk about it. Sometimes it can help you sort things out in your mind when you just talk and have someone there that will listen and give advice.
It also helps if you treat yourself to a little ice cream once in a while or if you're on a diet, fat-free rainbow sherbet works too. Cheer up. You'll be fine. :)

It depends on the severity of your depression... If it is severe depression you should seek medical help, especially if you have suicidal thoughts you should call a doctor. Now that is said, you can also relieve symptoms of depression through exercise and getting some sun shine is also a good way to help you feel better. But you should know sometimes depression is a true chemical imbalance that can only be relieved by medication... such as SSRI's which in effect bring hormonal levels up in much the same way good aerobic activity does. Again, depending on the level of depression... it is always good to seek medical advice from a professional

I heard sex helps relieve tensions. you can walk or run for 30 minutes. talk to someone who actually cares. sing, dance, say something nice to an attractive person. get this book your best life now by joel osteen. www.holistic-online.com helps deal with stress. www.more-selfesteem gives you a boost. writing down your thoughts helps. and make a list of 10 things about yourself you like every time you're down.

To be honest, I was never able to until I developed a relationship with God and let him into my heart. I don't mean to get all religious on you, but that's the only thing that worked for me. Until then, I took medication and still had problems.
Just my two cents...

Exercise, good diet, time in sunlight and surrounding yourself with positive people and the things you enjoy. For me gardening and my pets do wonders to lighten my manic depression.
