I saw on the about.com Navy job description that an SK does not require a security clearance, as of Fiscal year 2005. Does it now, as of fiscal year 2006 require a secret security clearance?

if an SK is stationed at a NIOC command, then yes, they will require a security clearance. For the most part, if the particular billet or NEC requires one, you have to pass the SSBI.

Depends on where you're located. The background checks are more thorough but you don't need security clearance
