The majority of the people in the US were led into supporting the war by false intelligence. Some people never did support it.
Most people recognize that we broke 2 countries and do not have an exit strategy that will leave a stable government in either country.
No leader in our country has presented a realistic plan to make this end well. The current administration is not responsive to the will of the American public - in fact, Bush sneers at polls. Even if a new candidate presented a good plan - Bush is in office for 2 1/2 more years.

Because if they stopped war they would have nothing to protest about. That is what they live for.
The amount of people that actually protest the war is a small fraction of Americans. Why should we let only a few thousand people decide what is best for 300 million? Last I checked, we were a representative republic.

Because we have the silent majority and then we have the loud mouth jerks who are just a pebble in our shoe. They irritate us, but can't do anything because they just talk and are pretty powerless.
Besides the last generation did a real protest, they were willing to die for their ideas. Viet Nam caused a lot of problems, but people stood up for what they believed in.
Now a days, talk is cheap.

This is because the US government is not a Democracy or a Republic. It is controlled by whomever is in charge. It doesn't matter what we say because military action does not require congressional approval. It's all the damn republicans fault, at the time of the $8 billion spending contract given to the military, the republicans were in control of congress.

It is a minority group of loudmouths who are protesting. The media gives them more time then they are worth. The vast majority of Americans are not traitors and love their country.

That's how a democracy works. The majority elects it's Representatives to basically do their bidding. If they are unsatisfied, they elect someone else next time, or even remove them from office. What you read in the papers is not necessarily what the majority is doing, that's why its news.
