Old enough to have developed deep schizophrenic complexes for not integrating his lifeforces correctly ... another insane casualty to a war between "flesh" and "spirit"
And your second answer... he spoke with John of Patmos for the same reasons he spoke with David Koresh ...and with Saul...

Who said that he came back.. We have all the comments, on answers about soul travel and such. Don't you think that it happens?? Or it just happens for witches?? It doesn't phase me a bit, there is a whole spirit world that you deny because you don't see it, but it is real. I will throw you another one, John may have seen this in real time and not a sort of vision. It doesn't say, but since God can see the future he COULD have showed John the real thing. Doesn't that make you want to say Praise the Lord?? Better than what you said.. Read the below about what John said, and about what happened to Paul..
Rev 1:10 I was in the spirit on the Lord's day
How do you know that John didn't go to heaven or some other place where the Lord took him.??
This one is talking about the Apostle Paul and it is thought that the Lord took him up to heaven and they had a little chat..
2Co 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

i think "john" would have been 69 yrs old then. when christ came back not physically but through a vision. John was one of the closer of the twelve disciples to Jesus. He has been credited to writing the Gospel of John, 1,2, n 3 and Revelation. The New testament letters werer written by John sometimes called the Johannine Epistles. 1st John warns christians of false teachers and urges them to show love to others. 2nd John also warsn of false teachres,3rd is written to an individual, Gaius to express appreciation for his christian life and hospitality. But the entire gosple focuses on Jesus as the son of God, his miracles and his teachings to individuals or groups. the purpose was to lead people to accept Christ as Lord and saviour. The book of John was believed by scholars to have been written cercaA.D. 90.

Ya he was old. But I think what John was writing was what he saw ' in the spirt' (saw the spirit world) ' on the Lord's day' which is the day of the cross. Not Sunday.
So he saw what really transpired on the cross. He saw everything that was to be and everything that was fulfilled. He saw all that was intercepted by Jesus that we deserved. He took the punishment. Revelations was an account of the would be punishment. 80% of Revelations is OT prophecy. And all OT prophecy was fulfilled at the cross.

Of course Rev was not written in 98 most likley ( and we all know the exact date is not known) It is mostly beleive the date written was before 70 AD.
some of the reason can be found at http://www.ecclesia.org/truth/revelation.html
And of course it is not mythology but factural writings. And for a mesage for all mankind would be why.

Here is what God's word says...
Rev 1:1-2 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
Although it is called the Revelation of John.. it is actually the Revelation of Jesus Christ and it is recorded by John. John "saw" Christ's Revelation.
In fact in Revelation 4:1 the author John is whisked up to heaven by and shown thing that are to come.
Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.
In His Service,
Ray

Oh contrare! Revelation was written around 54-68 AD and for your information Jesus is not dead but risen from the dead.
John was relating a VISION given to him by one of Jesus' angels.., and he saw Jesus in Heaven. Its amazing how you get things screwed up - and others will take your word for it. Your information is faulty.

Because regardless of whoever 'John" actually was, the book of Revelations are the ravings of a lunatic. The whole 'John' had a vision from god idea doesn't do much for his credibility.
