You can if it is an oven safe glass dish like PYREX.

Follow the directions (covered--not covered) baking dish.

Borosilicate (brand name of Pyrex) glass has a thermal expansion coefficient about one-third that of ordinary glass. This reduces material stresses caused by temperature gradients, thus making it more resistant to breaking.

Unless the fish is very large, it's better to cook it in the microwave or poach it in a pan!

If its an oven safe class pan. A container, is something that contains and has a top on it. In a oven that can't be good, becuas it will not fully cook the fish.

Here is one for baked catfish, using glass. It is really good!

BAKED CATFISH

1 two-pound catfish
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 medium onion (chopped)
3 fresh tomatoes (chopped) (or cup stewed tomatoes)
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon melted butter
3 tablespoons bacon fat
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 green pepper (chopped)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind

Dress and split catfish; place in greased shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper. Heat bacon fat in skillet; add chopped onion, chopped pepper and tomatoes. Saute for five minutes. Add thyme, lemon juice and water. Pour over fish. Combine bread crumbs, melted butter and lemon rind; sprinkle over fish in casserole. Bake (uncovered) at 350 for 45 minutes. Remove to heated platter; garnish with sprigs of parsley and lemon wedges. Serve with potato (baked in same oven heat), cabbage slaw and cornbread or hushpuppies. Serves four.

yes,

but do NOT put hot glass pan in sink or on any wet surface--it can shatter!
place on top of stove on an *off* burner. this will allow air to circulate underneath and cool the pan
