your dad is entitled to check on your activities. the legal action you can take against him is declaring yourself an emancipated minor, and go live by yourself.

No, there is no legal action you can take against him. Yes, he is entitled. I think you should count your blessings that you have a father that is willing to take the time to see what you are doing on the computer. More parents need to do this. Believe it or not, he is looking out for you, not just being nosy. You've heard the phrase,"Someday you'll thank me for this", well, in this case it is true. So just put up with it until you get a place of your own. (That's right, even if you are 18, you are still subject to the rules of the house.) Then, when you are mature enough, you will realize that this is the correct answer.

Let's see if I have this right. It's his computer and he lets you use it. You are a minor and he supports you, feeds you, clothes you, etc. (you get the point) Gee, do you think he is being responsible and making sure you're not talking to some pervert??? Don't you hear the news or read the papers? Maybe you should. And oh yea, what are you hiding that you don't want your Dad to read? I think he cares about your safety. Be grateful you have a father....and that he lets you use the computer. If you had to choose between the two, who would it be?? Whether you live in Kansas or New Jersey, you would still be a minor.

When turn 18 move out!
Regardless if you don't like him going behind you to see what you are doing. Remember you live under his roof and he pays the bills, the electric bill that allows you to turn on the computer each time you want to surf, the chair you sit in, the desk the computer is on, and most important he pays the Internet service every month that allows your ungrateful butt to log on to the Internet.

Who do you think pays for the roof over your head, the clothes that cloth your funky butt, and the food that you stuff your fat azz? If wasn't for your dad, your butt would be on the streets hungry, and funkier than you are..If you don't like the rules..move out and get a job! Oh..you can't..You are too young!!!

So, until you have your own place, and pay bills. What your father does is his business. You need to be thankful enough he cares enough about you and what you are doing on the Internet! The Internet is too dangerous for kids to be surfing on. In fact, if you don't like his rules stay off the computer!
Hell no..there's no type of action you can take against your father. I know there's an action he can take against you, and that's keep your Lil ungrateful azz of his computer. How about that for a story line?

set your browser so it deletes all cookies and history when you exit out and you could also buy a third party program on the net to do the same that works in real time
(I Beleive) other then that I would say your pretty well screwed till you turn 18 but my answers might help!

another thing to remember if you got any child porn or illegal files on the computer and your dad has no idea about but only you and the police come to search the house and the computer and find a file like that. you can kiss your life goodbye! for every illegal file found is something like 150,000 to 200,000 dallors and I think some jail time too but since your not over 18 you go to juvenile detention center and your dad goes to jail and the house might be sold! so who is right for looking at your history for safe guards ?

ask your dad what he is looking for?
if you do ilegal stuff like ilegal websites STOP IT BEFORE SOMEONE IN BLUE DOES IT FOR YOU!

It's not your computer, and that being the case you're SOL.
The Internet can be a very dangerous place, and your dad is trying to look out for you. The other thing i'd like to mention is that your father could monitor your computer activity in other ways and you wouldn't even know it.
If I was your father and I found out that you wanted to take legal action against me over the computer, I wouldn't allow you to use my computer anymore.

If it's his computer he IS entitled to look. If you're living under HIS roof he is entitled to know what it is your are doing on and off the internet. Yes you can legally become emancipated, that would mean you would have to get a job and move out on your own and pay your own bills and be responsible for yourself rather than your dad taking care of everything for you.

If you are a minor, AND it's his PC, he has every right to check up on you. OR take the priviledge away. Which do you prefer. Take legal action?? He's looking at your history because he loves you. There is a lot of crazy junk out there and it is his responsibility, not just right. GET OVER IT!!!

If youre a minor, the honey, unfortunately, he has the right to be in your life. I mean you are still a minor, when your 18 you can move out of the house and do whatever you want. He sorta has a right about the computer thing, I mean, havent you heard of online predators??

I'm a parent of four and my rule is if your hiding it you shouldn't be doing it. Cut your dad some slack its hard to balance protecting your kids and respecting their judgment and privacy.

Have you ever given your Dad a reason to distrust your behavior on the computer?
