Sometimes that is normal, especially since you missed a few days. Our bodies do strange things especially if you are on any type of a birth control or hormone.
If it is too heavy or if it lasts longer than usual then it should raise a brow of concern.
If it is too bothersome for you and you want to be on the safe side, then talk to your doctor, but for the most part, you should be fine.
NOW if you are going through several pads or tampons a day, then that is TOO Heavy.

I don't think its necessary. But I have read that many women have had miscarriages without knowing it, because there will be just a heavy period. I've read that is what happens with the majority of miscarriages and the women didn't even know they were pregnant. But if this would concern you because you think this may be a possibility then call the doctor.

No I don't think so, if you really want to call your doctor and ask then go ahead. But sometimes your chemical balance can get mixed up which causes your period to come late or sometimes early, and because you were so late that caused your period to be significantly heavier, so in a few days you should be normal again, and next time it will more than likely come ontime.

I dont think you have anything to worry about. You Probably just have irregular periods. I am the same way. What exactly would you ask your doctor, what are you worried about? Being pregnant? Your not. Dont worry.

i would just keep an eye on it for now...if it don't stop when you think it should, or gets even heavier, then call, but until then, i think you're fine...you'll know if there's something wrong.
alot of times when you're late for whatever reason, it's heavier, and more painful...eat some chocolate and get a massage...
