Listen this is what you need to do, as a Ford Mechanic, behind the engine under where the PVC goes is a rubber grommet, remove it and pull out a metal screen that will be stopped up and full of carbon. You will have to use a 1/4 big lag screw and run it down it to pull it out. Replace with a new one and new rubber grommet and new PVC valve. A parts store should have the screen and grommet and PVC valve.

Check your breather and PCV valve. The pressure in your valve covers is probably too high and pushing oil into the air cleaner. It could be that the rings are worn and blowby is causing it.
If you try solvent (kerosene, motor flush or whatever you call it...) be careful because you will dislodge all the contaminants from 21 years of use. This crud can cause more problems than you can imagine. Ask a real mechanic (not a Yahoo Answers know it all) before you use a flushing product.
Yes, you may need a new engine. Best bet if this is the case would be to get another car to go around the new engine.
Good luck
ps. take all these answers with a grain of salt. Ask a pro.

The PCV valve is supposed to pull dirty air out of the crankcase and clean air is supposed to come into the crankcase through the Crankcase Breather Element in the air cleaner. Here is a photo of the breather element: http://www.rockauto.com/ref/SMP/SMPDetail2.html?BF17.jpg
If the PCV valve is not working or its port is clogged then pressure would build in the crankcase and blow oil through the breather element into the air cleaner.
If the crankcase breather element is soaked in oil then replace it and the PCV valve (back of the intake manifold). Some Ford 302s and 351s also have a small circular filter stuck in the hole below the PCV valve. It is a small metal cage filled with wire mesh. If your car has that filter make sure it is also not clogged.

Is that even possible???? How much oil are you finding? a lot? Does your air filter have a cover and is the cover completely on? Sounds like oil is getting spit or dripped on it. check the surrounding area for oil. If it keeps happening, and you don't feel like spending the money on a shop. Try buying an after market air filter (short ram intake) that will move the location of the air filter and see if that solves the problem.

possible pcv valve needs replacement- very cheap and easy. always try the simple things first......the engine is to provide an accurate oil and air mixture. if the valve is clogged, oil can spit up into the air filter via the connector near your breather filter. also check breather filter for oil. good indicator.

check for proper opperation of the PCV valve....it should rattle when shaken. if the valve is clogged or defective it will cause too much pressure inside the engine and cause oil to be pushed out anywhere that it can...including the air filter or cause gaskets to start leaking.

the pcv valve is blocked or the suction line going to it is blocked. If there is strong vaccum to the valve, the piston rings are worn out. You can always put 2 pcv valves if the engine is worn out, and it may help, cause I have done it before.
