Hi. First off I would ignore all of the "well my friend said.....and the "well I heard this can" type of advise.
This will only work for you. If you think you are addicted then you are addicted. Question is do you want to do anything about it?
So why dont you stop?
What would happen if you did stop drinking it?
What would happen if you didn't?
If you think you have a physical addiction (to the additives or the sugar) either go 'cold turkey' or replace the drink with something else as reward. (not sugar based!)
Do you drink it at the same time each day?
Interupt that pattern-be 'unavailable' at that time or replace the behaviour.
Do you drink as a re action to something (stressful situation/reward for exercise/end of the day) break that habit.
Look at the details of your habit. Thne when/ where and why's. Challenge those bits rather than just making drinking two cans of coke the bad thing
Godd luck flower

I stopped taking Coke with my meals just three long, torturous days ago. I stopped taking Coke to stay up at night. With every fibre of responsibility, I have refrained from temptation to imbibe Coke until at least 2 weeks have passed, and my addiction is broken.
Coke: My AddictionBut you don’t know how hard it is. When I walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth or gaze admiringly at my sunken and dark eyes in the mirror, I pass my roommate’s closet, which brims over with Coke. Cases and cases, full of delicious Coca-cola, that red and white can, cool in the dark closet. Shivers run up and down my spine, and my eyes never move as I leave the bathroom. I WANT to drink. How hard will it be tomorrow?
It all started when I was a teenager, and my Father gave me Coke for the first time. I tried a little sip–since I knew how bad it was for you–but it tasted so good. I couldn’t stop drinking, and before I know it, the whole can was gone. I loved the smooth fizz and sweet taste, the bubbles that ran down your throat. From then on, I was in high gear. I drank as many as 2 Cokes a day, on average. On a really bad day, I could drink as many as five, using the Coke high to stay up late into the night.
But, as my complexion got worse, my weight increased, and my teeth rotted, I knew I had to stop. Now, on my third coke-free day, I feel free, in a way. The cravings are still there, but my teeth are already stronger, I look better, and I can think more clearly. If you’re addicted to Coke, don’t wait. You can stop now, and turn your life around!

Try this... pour an inch of coke into a glass, drop a copper coin into it... leave for a few hours, then come back and see how it has stripped the coin to look like new, imagine then, just what that liquid is doing to the lining of your stomach! Think ulcers, bleeding, before your middle age.
Coke contains gas as well, carbon dyoxide, and the bubbles are causing gases in your stomach. Citric acid is in all fizzy drinks, this gets inside your joints and causes arthritis.
If you want to be crippled with it like I am, then go ahead and keep on drinking it.
I never drank the stuff, but citric acid was in other things I drank and ate, it's in all fizzy drinks, and citrus fruuits.
It took many years before I understood this. I no longer drink or eat these things, because if you have the potential for arthritis (if someone in your ancestry had it, then you do) it means you lack an enzyme that breaks down citric acids. the acid has to go somewhere, if not broken down, so it is forced into the skeletal joints. where it calcifies and forms the lumpy nodules, that then force your joints to get mishapen. And it's very painful.
It may take some years for this to happen, but it will happen, and once done, there is no repairing them, then surgery is your only option and I wouldn't recommend it.
So, carry on and damage both these areas of your body if you wish... by drinking it... and that's before you work out what the sugars and the additives, are doing to your system.
Or wise up now and drink still drinks, without the added sugars, like fresh non citrus fruit juices, and still water. And eat fresh fruits as well, to cleanse your body and your system out, and protect your older years.

Ok, just a few points first. Many people confuse "addiction" with "compulsion"; the two are not the same, but the end result is very similar for the sufferer. The difference is more important when it comes to breaking free of it. At two cans a day, it's more likely you have a compulsion for Coke than and addiction, but the latter is not impossible.
If you are addicted to Coke, it'll be the caffeine in it you're addicted to, so stay away form Diet Coke, as it has even more caffeine to replace some of the missing sugar, and I believe this is true of other caffeinated soft-drinks and their sugar-free counterparts.
Don't worry about weight-gain from the Coke alone, or getting Diabetes, I don't think it's possible to get Diabetes from too much sugar, although your doctor is the person to ask that. The real danger is to your teeth. Ideally you want to get down to one can a week.
I don't have any info myself on overcoming addictions, see your doctor about that, and you could try reading about the "NAC master system" in Tony Robbins' "Awaken the Giant Within" (Ch.6 I think). Replacing a negative behaviour with a positive one you're in control of does seem to be a common feature though.
Another thing about the Diet Coke; in virtually any "Diet", "Light", "Lite", "Zero", "Z", "No sugar" or "No added sugar" drink, including kids fruit juices and even some foods, you'll find Aspartame. This is a sweetener and is always given away with the "Contains a source of Phenylalanine" warning for PKU sufferers. Supposedly safe for the rest of us and once known as "Nutrasweet", it has been implicated in all manner of neurological disorders, such as Parkinson's, Alzheimers, and brain tumours, and more recently, cancer. Although none of these claims have been proven, I'm afraid that's a few too many for me (especially when a professor at a university in Canada is suspicious of it), and I wouldn't touch the stuff, nor would I allow any kids of mine to ever drink it. Stick with sugar, at least you know it only going to rot your teeth, or if you already have Diabetes, it could make that worse.
As for Citric acid causing arthritis, I've never heard of anything like that in my life! Fruits have this, and many of us have been eating fruit for time immemorial. Ask your doctor about this.
Last thing, the acids in Coke won't be any worse than the acid in your stomach, and I wouldn't let that loose on anything valuable. Stomach ulcers aren't caused by acid, they're caused by a bacteria called H-Pylori (H for Helicobacter), and are cured by antibiotics.
Good luck with this, but don't worry too much yet, two cans a day isn't healthy, but right the now the biggest thing in danger is your teeth.

ok, at 2 cans a day, you are not totally addicted, but you are well on your way to becoming so. Try weaning yourself off coke...it takes a week or so and after that you will prob find that you can't stand the taste. Start by throwing away half a can, then by cutting down to one can, then by throwing away half of that can and eventually cutting it out altogether. You need to replace it with something though...i found that carbonated water worked great and quenched my thirst a lot more than coke. Try to get it under control before it controls you...it is one of those "nasty but nice" products and is highly addictive...good luck:)

Put a dirty coin in a glass of Coke overnight and it will strip it clean overnight.
Cops in the USA use it to dissolve blood stains off the street.
It's so caustic you can even clean a sink or tile grout with it, remove oil stains off the driveway, clean your kettle.
So...think what it's doing to your insides....
If you like sweet stuff, can't you drink fruit juice instead?
Though it does have one positive use apparently - if you have a lot of phlegm after a cold, drinking a glass of hot coca cola before going to bed for a few nights helps quite a bit.
Gross! XD
Oh, and another thing - if you overload your system continually with too much sugar, you may well give yourself a higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes. I've got several people in my family with this, and I don't want it, so I don't have sugar in my tea or on my cereal, and I don't have fizzy drinks.

2 cans a day doesn't really make you addicted! But try other drinks instead!
Sweet tea is good. It has lots of sugar, so your not giving up a lot of sugar which is found in the cokes you drink!

Did you know that there are people in the Sudan who can not get water out of their Wells anymore because of Coca-Cola. They are draining all the water from underground to make money and the poor people of the Sudan are starving because there is no water for their crops. Do yourself and these poor Sudanese a favour, Just Don't Buy It!
