I am concerned about what testing is being done to prevent morons that cant drive from being on the road? My grandma is like 83 and voluntarily gave up her license in Florida about 3-4 years ago. Now she lives in Michigan and they just gave her a license by taking a written test. My mom informs me she rode with her the other day and she SHOULD NOT be driving. I love my grandma but She can barely see out of 1 of her eyes and has to take about 20 medications a day-WHAT is the deal with the DMV??? I think there should be stricter laws and harder tests to avoid people who clearly shouldnt be driving from doing so. What do you think???

Yes, the driving test in America is a joke! I think 16 is too young to be driving a car. "They" think you are responsible enough to drive a car at 16? Some may be, but please...
In Germany you have to sit through 12 classes (90 min each) and Drive for at least 35 hours (not straight...lol) with a licensed trainer. Then...you have to study a book the size of "The Shining", and complete the Questionnaire after each chapter. Then...months and thousands of Deutschmarks later I finally had my license, didn`t fail once! Oh yeah...you also have to be 18 to get your license (you can legally smoke and drink beer at 16).

There should definitely be stricter testing for a driver's license. Age should not be a factor, but statistics prove that young drivers are inexperienced, while the old drivers don't have the instincts and quick reactions.
To get the teenagers experienced, we should start training them when they are nine or ten in simulated conditions. There are three things needed, 1) how to control a car, 2) knowledge of the rules of the road, and 3) empathy for other drivers (i.e. courtesy).
For the first part, we could have go-carts on a special course. For the second, there's videos, lectures, and quizzes. For the third part, that's the hardest part and I have no answer for.
In other countries, like Germany, it is much more difficult to pass the test.
I'm afraid in this country it would be hard to change the status quo. Since the insurance companies, the auto body shops, and the ER rooms make too much money as things stand now, they would fight strongly to prevent change.

No doubt getting a driving license is rediculously easy. Just look around at all the crazies driving! Here in GA, people...well, can't drive worth a hoot. They seem to be under the impression that if nothing is blocking your drive, drive with that left pedal (aka gas pedal) to the floorboard until a vehicle is keeping you from doing so, then be obnoxious and ride its tail until it gets out of your way, then continue with pedal on floorboard until another vehicle blocks you, and repeat. When I started driving in GA, I noticed what nut-jobs people are when it comes to driving here. Then my father moved down here and commented to me "Do people from this state get their licenses from Cracker Jack boxes or what?" I think all the over-teased, dyed blonde hair and full-size diesel truck fumes block peoples' brains from reading numbers, such as speed limit signs and speedometers, and the use of that long stick-like object on the left side of the steering column called a turn signal.

Yes! Kids drive too fast and too reckless that causes the older foks who slower to over react. The kids think just because they passed there test their the best drivers, when in all reality they are the ones that cause alot of the stupid things that happen on the road!!

I agree. The most dangerous drivers on the road are older in my opinion. Young drivers get alot of critiizm(cant spell), but some are much better drivers than older people.

no way, I hd to take my road test 4 times. I hated that thing. Ofcourse right now my license is suspended, and I speed, and am far too aggressive. Never the less, I'm an excellent driver, can you pull a reverse 180 on asphalt?

In my crap hole state of Massachusetts you are required to take eye exams. No pass no license. You don't need to see when you are driving. That's why cars have horns.
