Even if all visible signs defy logic and good intentions one must admit this woman is making attempts to care for the needs of the animal. One never knows the missing elements of the story...perhaps the animal was a gift to a dependant or deceased family member possibly the woman does or recently did a heroic job of caring for a chronically or terminally ill loved one ,aunt suzie came for a 3 min. visit and told her the treatment of that expensive and wonderful(unhousetrained) frenchie was inhumane and that she would pay if only that dog were given a proper show cut! Possibly she has home invasion childhood issues , Forgive me but get off your high horse, she owes you no explanation, provide the animal service you are paid for,a little less travailing a little more tenderness,Lest we forget work is often a job and vice versa. But you might have people neglect/abuse issues that trigger on cases such as this a licensed therapist may be well worth your money.for venting.in a safe forum without accusatory aggression toward strangers as an unhelpful distraction from whatever is really going on with you....lighten up please.

haha hilarious.
Well.. I don't know if this tops it but I get asked all the time the gender of dogs at my kennel. One lady even insisted that a girl dog was a boy because the girls area stuck out a little bit. Its also suprising how many people I get that I will call the dog one gender when its another, and they will be like "ITS NOT A (girl/boy)?!" and I will be like "no its (insert correct gender), I'm just used to saying the other" and they will say "oh ok I can't tell on dogs." <--is there something so different between humans and dogs that you can't tell a male from a female?

This isn't exactly a pet question, but it is certainly one of the oddest ones I have even encountered answering the phone at a vet clinic.
Me: Thank you for calling the xyz Veterinary Clinic. This is MustangGal. How can I help you?
Him: I can't find my bull. You reckon he's dead?
Me: (Oh the things I wanted to say.... Maybe you should call a physic hotline. LOL) I think you really need to speak to the doctor.
I run back and get the vet and tell his he HAS to take THIS call! :D

Yes, those people are a blast, but I've got one better for the most clueless of all time. A guy came into our kennel to buy a trained dog and demanded that we show him the best K-6 that we had!!! Guess he got the number wrong. Needless to say, he went away without a dog of ours!

Bless your heart!!! LOL!
I am a dog groomer also, and I tell customers like that...
"The only thing I will do for your dog is to shave it down and start fresh. If that's not something you're interested in doing, I can't help you. I will NOT put this poor animal thru hours of painful brushing simply because you were too lazy to brush your dog once in a while and want him to look pretty."
People like that shouldn't even own FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have had cats come into our shelter like this too. People don't understand that if you aren't the boss, the dog is going to be and that's when you have dogs that bite and get agressive. My dog jumps when I say jump but just looks at anyone else like they are crazy when they tell him to do something. Even my husband!!!

See this everyday of the week and more. Much, much more.
Fleas, sores, matts, cancer, ticks and the most horrible ear infections. Scary.
I have to wonder somedays, do people even LOOK at their dogs? Ever?
And, not everyone is the alpha dog at their house.

I can't top your story, but I agree with you.
I have a cat, he weighs about 14 lbs, and is very cranky and ill-tempered.
When people try to pet him, sometimes he snaps at them. They retreat in fear. Every time he sees them, he snaps at them. They are afraid of him.
When he snaps at me, I pick him up, cradle him like a baby, and stick my hand in his mouth. I tell him, "Go ahead !*@^, bite me! Take a *good* bite!"
He doesn't bite me, he loves me, and he never snaps at me. When I am very sad or down, he comes and curls up in my lap.
Go figure... :-))
