They can sometime be bred, but you shouldn't - it's a trait that will be passed on to the puppies. And testicles are designed to be housed in the scrotum where it is cooler than body temperature. Undescended testicles are far more likely to become cancerous and should be removed immediately.

most likely they are. semen need to be a a temperature that is lower than the bodies normal temperature in order to survive, thus the reason for the testicles being, in essense, outside of the body. crypts will generally not be able to produce viable sperm because it's too warm. even if you were able to get viable sperm, crypto is a genetic disorder so it would be a really bad idea to breed them.

despite wether they are sterile or not, they SHOULD be fixed. Dogs with this problem often get infections and have problems with the area, which assuming you take your dog to a vet, they should have mentioned to you.

Higher temps.inside the body are VERY detrimental to sperm cells. ...thank goodness,otherwise the dim would try it anyway & pass the fault on.
Neuter SOON! Prone to cancer.

testicals do not need to drop to form sperm or breed it's just more comfortable for the male.
