I don't mind spending my tax money on children's education (illegal or not), as opposed to bomb making.

This is one of the biggest drains on our services and probably the biggest impact to our own society. Illegal immigrants drain education funds and degrade education for our own people. If we were in a situation to educate our own well and have an excess, as we might be if there were only a few illegal immigrants, it would be different, but this is a really big problem.

I am wrestling with it. On the one hand, there is no question that our 'free' education is a big magnet drawing illegal immigrants here. Also, we have not got a sufficiently funded and served education system to 'share' anything like on the scale we have been doing.

On the other hand... It is hard to turn kids away. (I'm not even discussing those born here, they need to be educated.)

I am definitely against in state tuition for illegal immigrants since our own citizens only get that benefit if they are legal residents of the state. I am still wrestling with the rest of it, though.

I am certain fewer illegal immigrants would come if we didn't educate their children, and there is no question that our children would get a much better education in that case.

All the same, I go around and around on this one.

What is the problem that you have with people from other Countries? Every question has something to do with "illegals" are you that small minded that you have nothing else to say? Do some history about your own family, you will be surprised at what you find(they are not from the USA) nobody in this Country is from this Country, born here or not, go far enough back and you will see where you really came from. When you find out, ask yourself these same stupid questions about you and all of your family before you and then you will have your answer

Yes, it matters. We are having enough problems educating legal children let alone adding to the tax burden with illegal kids. At least, the parents of legal kids are feeding money into the system that is paying for their education. Can you say the same about the children of illegals?

The short of it is, that's it's a drain on theUS economy. Education is the single most exspensive item for any jurisdiction and adding illegals means everybody pays for it, especially on small towns and counties that are experiencing growth booms ad their school systems can't handle it.

Just to give you an example, I tried housing a foriegn exchange student for next year. Everything was set up, scheduled and paid for when we found out the local HS couldn't handle one (free, non-paying) more student because of the all of the new communities being built. This HS is 20 years old, has 10 trailer-classrooms and is the only one in this little county.

I was upset, but understand.

Their was a program I watched either 20/20 or Dateline where parents in Mexico were using taxi cabs to take their children to the border of Arizona, and walk across to the U.S. right into an American school, it showed the kids walking and no body called immigration, they tried to talk to the kids, but they didn't answer, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Their parents are not citizens and neither are the children, and the authorities did nothing about it. Education is not free in Mexico, so the parents send them here. what a rip off we are getting.

Since they are not citizens then they shouldn't be educated by the us educational system. Why should they not have to pay taxes like everyone else (which pays for everyones education). That is stealing directly from citizens pocket.

But I personally think they powerful and rich nations have a responsibillity to help those less fortunate in the world. But can never be forced to do so.

If you would look on Teachers chat boards -there is a problem. Bill Gates is even taking this issue up. On a world wide scale our education is going to the bottom. To some of the problems besides just the Greedy Board of Education-is a mass of flow of people that were not counted on.
Many areas in the US have no schools(especially the mountains areas)-they depend on others who have no money to teach them basics. Why are we not helping them first-tell them others deserve it more.
I do not blame the children or others for taking advantage of it.
But children can be taught anywhere-didn't Mother Theressa do well with just a slate-some of her students are talking all around the world.
If your point is pity them--no I would suggest if you and others care so much-go and teach them in their homeland. Too many here are just surviving and they should not have to pay more.
I am weary of this--lip services-if you care give your time and money-quit trying to throw guilt on others.
The world is yours to help -but not to demand that others should pay-which maybe they truly can not afford.

It matters to me that most of them are getting welfare and free lunch, and living off of that, not even trying to improve their lives (The parents). I think that the children are innocent, and should be educated, but if they really want that education, there should be federally funded boarding schools that they can apply to. There would be a required GPA to mantain ect to stay there. Their parents would also have the chance to apply for citizenship, and become legal. That way they could be educated, and we're not taxing our economy by giving people welfare who never paied taxes themselves.

Hell no ... but the illegal immigrants should PAY for the schooling themselves until they're deported ... or else they can bring their children back to their country of origin post haste and stay there until they get their paperwork sorted out, and an approval to enter this country legally!

Their parents ultimately cause whatever problems the children have. It isn't right but nothing is right. It isn't right that they are here. Maybe Mexico should to educate them. They are citizens of MEXICO not the United States. I am sure when they start rounding them up....there will be some type of school inthe internment camps.
